I am currently on my laptop that has Linux (my desktop has Windows 7) and I was wondering what c++ compiler do you prefer to use for Linux. I know there is a search button and Google but I want to know from people's experiences, which one they like the best, etc.

Try http://gcc.gnu.org/ it's said to be the best free one.
