Review:

Plot:

I really enjoyed the plot for this movie. The action was eased into, rather than jumping right in where it left off as some sequels do, which made it feel much more professional. The plot is very deep, and provided twists and surprises all the way through.

The plot wasn't anything completely unique, but it was performed in a manner that left you guessing either way. It's also unfair to completely judge the plot by this one arc, rather than the entire series of movies. As a single movie, it was great, but as a series, it's even better.

Characters:

The characters in this are well thought out, and each have a very strong sense of personality. You can tell how much time was put into making sure all of the characters seemed natural.

Each character has a unique background and ultimate yearning, rather than just being there to take up space.

Every character was fighting for something, and it showed.

Something great about Berserk is that even when characters aren't explained in detail, you still feel as if you know them well enough, just because of how developed their personalities are, and how unchanging they are.

Thoughts:

Overall, I thought this was a great movie. I haven't personally seen the original series, or read the manga, so I can't compare it to either of those, sadly.

The animation quality was fantastic almost the entire time.

The characters were brilliant, and you could get attached to people easily, even if you don't know them the best.

One thing that I disliked about the movie was the seemingly unnecessary amount of blood. Of course, it is a movie about war, so that's expected, but it almost seemed unrealistic when it came to the gore.

The amount of damage that Guts (The main character) could sustain also made me question how realistic it was. Yes, he is pretty beastly, but some things are physically impossible.

All the being said, it's a supernatural movie, you can't judge everything on how real it seems.

Overall, I would recommend this to just about anyone. It is a great series overall, and really makes you want to watch the next movie.

My Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ 8.5/10

MAL Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ 8.12/10

Yeah, download link is in the thread under information.

It's been subbed for a couple weeks, but the grammar is bad in some spots. Still definitely worth watching though

I dont care about grammar ;D . But thanks for posting this ! :D
You can't really enjoy the movie to it's fullest if you didn't watch the anime or read the manga before.
Berserk is gore. There's a lot of blood and it's something you can't remove from the serie. If you enjoyed the movie I suggest you go watch the anime.
Also Guts is kinda like an "invincible warrior". If you watch the anime or read the manga you will understand why he is able to sustain so much damage.
Gutts best swordsman EA (stands for Earth, get at me).

If you haven't I suggest, as alex said, reading the manga. The anime on the other hand was kinda meh.

Anyway, movie is beast mode and I can't wait for the next one to get subbed. Nice review.
Yeah. I do plan on reading the manga, but I would rather finish watching the movies first, otherwise I feel it may ruin/spoil it a bit for me.

The movies cover only a small part of the manga and skip a lot of stuff. Also the movies don't really start at the beginning.

I read bits of the wiki, and from that it did seem like I wasn't starting exactly at the beginning, so that makes sense.

Thanks for clarifying ^.^ I'll definitely check out the manga
I was looking forward to seeing it but then i realised. I dont have the heart to watch berserk anymore. 2 last episodes brought so much rage i cant see it anymore without getting really angry. 😠

The manga is superior to the anime. Personally because the artwork is godtier and it doesnt leave you with a gaping hole in your heart after watching it.
