To UB3Rs & L33ts misusing their powers

Dear community,

This thread is addressed to the UB3Rs and L33ts that are constantly abusing their power over new members.

Why is it that whenever a new member makes a thread about how he gets repped unfairly, you have to jump all over him and give him neutrals and neg reps. Do you guys even realize how disheartening it could be to a new member who's trying to be legit and friendly being repped negatively for just simply stating his opinion in an open community.

This attitude has to seriously change and we have to become more responsible with what we choose to do with our repping power, we all were normal members at some point of time and we know how painful it is when ub3rs abuse their power over regulars. And now when we are ub3rs we simply neg rep a person because he mentioned the word rep in his thread, that's just pathetic.

It has come to the point that new members who could potentially benefit this site are leaving because of this fact. We all know how hard it would be for someone to start their small business in this forum with negative reputations, it is beyond depressing to see how members with powers to do this are acting this way.

And you may ask yourself: why are they doing this? Sadly enough, this toxic behaviour doesn't break any rule. It is certainly true that you can state your opinion -repping someone but, now it's not about that, it's about humanity. And the main point is that they are not punished back in any way, like they don't lose anything, because the members they usually go against have no power to rep back (coincidence?).

The reason I am creating this thread is to acknowledge the upgraded community about how unethical this behaviour is, because in the end it doesn't break any rules (because you are theorically stating your opinion on the user). With this, you are doing nothing but stopping the community from growing.

Thanks for reading.

Similar messages have been posted in the past, the problem is people don't read them, or they do read them but do not act accordingly.

Most of these "HF Bullies" or random neg reppers just have problems IRL. So they get their emotions out by bullying people online, to "let it all out", as they are helpless victims of bullying IRL.

It's a shame.
Well from the current rules that HF has, we can freely rep anyone we want unless it violates the rules set out. I really think the rep system and rules for it needs an upgrade and be more specific.
It's a shame to see members misuse their abilities, and thing's they've earned through loyalty, and respect from other members, then to mis-use it on members. Honestly reputation is the most pointless thing I've ever seen, a vouch system ,or feedback would work, where there isn't positive, or negative, just feedback.

Good post, thanks for sharing.
Like the idiot on top with all of those negative.

It's funny, cause when I joined this community. L33t and ub3r judge others from rep. Even other forums too, it's just really sad to see that. Judging others by rep. 🤝
Here you go, I'm abusing my power over you. Fuck me, right?
Nice thread, I agree to a certain extent. The real reason people continue to diminish the reputation of new members is because they know the member can do nothing to retaliate, and the typical age group on this forum will still get personal enjoyment from the misfortune of others. Seeing someone post a long angry thread about a single negative, followed by a complete rage quit when additional red marks join the first one simply gives pleasure to some members. Your points are well put, but I doubt it will initiate any change.
Crypto

I honestly hate when people post "Reps a number, get over it" rep could mean your business here not working because some revenge repper put "deal with caution".

I agree man.
You have your opinion, we have ours. If you wish us to respect your opinion; you must also respect ours.

With this, I use the reputation system as it is. If somebody can't take the time out of their day to read the help documents, letting them know it's not acceptable to skip over these rules saves our asses in the future. Not only that, but if they cant even read help documents, you want them in our marketplace?

Now I'm very lenient when I give out rep. If somebody asks in a mature, educated matter and let's us know that despite his searching he is still confused, then I give the benefit of the doubt. But when the person asking is very obviously asking for rep and/or whining about it, then action must be taken.

I assume you are pointing out what happened in the recent thread made a couple of minutes ago. If so, that user wasn't even given a single neg or neutral, it's just tweety updating his rep.

I hate when new members make threads saying such as

"Its so hard to get rep I want to go into the market place"

I seen members make a thread like that with there first post ever made.

I also have seen multi accounters who have scammed, spammed infected links make threads like that.

Not saying I'm against what you say, but if they didn't post some of the most idiotic things for attention, they probably wouldn't be getting repped.
I have noticed this myself.
Also, this thread is basically bringing nothing but attention to the reputation system. Hopefully it doesn't mess it up.
Good views OP.
Sad, but true. The worst part is that it won't stop. People think it's funny to negative rep anyone or to let it be known that their opinion is the only thing that matters.
It's hard to get a +1, kinda achievement to have and and soo damn easy to get a -3. Ignorant kids.
I'm sure someone will - rep me for this post coz' they enjoy the fact that I can't - rep them back.

But we can still be compassionate about how the rep will affect the person, it might be even force him to leave the site which happens in most of the cases.

We decide a lot of this and we should always encourage other members to be legit and friendly opposed to trashing them.
Well you have a really good point but on the other side I see plenty of users who abuses their green powers on new users. If a user asks for some rep to post in marketplace, plenty users give it to him and this is just wrong and is also against the rules.

I've try to not give red or grey apples but when I do I remove them after a while.
