Summary:

Ganta is the only survivor after a mysterious man in red slaughters a classroom full of teenagers. He's framed for the carnage, sentenced to die, and locked away in the most twisted prison ever built: Deadman Wonderland. And then it gets worse.

At Deadman Wonderland, convicts are forced into brutal deathmatches for the amusement of the masses, the cheers of the crowd drowning out the screams of the dismembered. Even when Ganta befriends Shiro, an unusual female inmate, his dark fate crushes all hope —until he discovers the strange ability to wield his spilled blood as a weapon. Ganta learns his new skill might be related to the murderous man in red and uncovers disturbing secrets that could expose those who stole his freedom. He's determined to see justice served —but first he'll have to fight for his life in a prison that holds a million ways to die.

Plot:

The plot for Deadman Wonderland is a bit hard to judge. Not because it confused me, but because it was never finished.

The way the series ended was a problem, because the plot was never fulfilled. If it had continued, however, I like the whole idea behind it.

A lot of things, mostly the ones that matter the most, were not explained, so you're left to assume that things are unjustified. Unjustified powers are always a plot hole, no matter how you look at it.

However, if you look past the things that weren't explained, the way the series progressed was pretty great.

Characters:

This one is also tough to judge.

In this series, people die. People die a lot. In fact, it gets to the point where they make sure you can't get attached to any character in the show, because they're probably going to die. The only character who you are left with to get attached to, is the main character, Ganta. Ganta is a whiny SOB, and no one likes him.

So, the main character is retarded, and everyone else dies, is that it?

Actually, no, there is ONE other character that you will actually love.

Shiro.

Shiro is the goddess of this series, and was my motivating factor to complete the show. Damn, she's awesome.

If you're still not convinced that she is awesome, what if I told you she is voiced by the same person who played Mayushii in Steins;Gate.

Thoughts:

Overall, this series was decent. At first, I really enjoyed the series, and though it was going to be awesome. As it progressed though, characters I liked died, unexplained things happened, and then, of course, the ending was retarded.

Honestly, if there was a second season to further things, then the series would be great. But that's not the case.

This show is very comparable to "Mirai Nikki" in various ways, so if you enjoyed that show, you'll probably enjoy this as well.

The art style is a little off though, because it makes everyone's face look retarded...Except for Shiro, she's orgasmic.

Anyways, bad ending, bad characters, good story, exciting, and very gory.

If you're a horror fan, or an action fan, you'll like this series.

I would also like to note a few things about this anime:

Music:

The Music was made by Narasaki it had an amazing opening but an even better ending it also had one song that hit in my sweat spot it was Track 5 from Deadman Wonderland. Music fit every Animation and scene perfectly I simply loved it from the OP to the ED and to the tracks.

Animation:

The Animation was not far from amazing but I thought it was missing that little bit to make it perfect. It is very gory with a lot of blood (Who am fucking joking they used blood as weapons.) The Animation could have been perfected and made a bit more better but overall it was amazing.
