Hello all. This is my 2 year feedback thread which I am writing and may post a few days ahead of time. I have a lot of negative feedback about this site but in general, I will try to keep it positive. This won't be just my story and 100 shout outs to members I've talked to twice and I repped for being a "trill nigga", but I will include my HF story and I will include four shout outs in the end. If you only came to read these for that I can assure you you won't be mentioned anywhere in this thread. Last year, I was a bit afraid of voicing some things out but I will include those.
Also, I don't really care for graphics or images, so since this isn't a coloring book I will keep this pure text. I will use spoilers if you are only interested to see some parts of this.
Now, let's get started with my story. I wrote a feedback thread last year, so I suppose I will build off of that and I will try to only include significant events so you aren't bored to death by this wall of text.
Story
Spoiler (Click to View)Ah, I remember it like it was yesterday. June 11th of last year I was hanging out with my friends in an Xbox Live party, and one of them (Cloudy) told the other (Zero) that he should do GFX for the site, as he thought that the GFX makers on HF weren't really too good.
I immediately asked what the site was and they told me. At first I thought it was a very small community because, just as a lot of members I had just come from TTG, which has an outstanding amount of staff and members.
I thought I could have basically any username I wanted, but it wasn't really like that. I tried my first name, a lot of general usernames, then my Gamertag, Ninetales.
Some of you may remember me for that name, some may not, but when I first joined all I really did was try to sell Gamertags, which I did a lot over the summer, but now I try my best to stay out of that section.
Finally, on an early July-ish night, I sold the Gamertag "Emolga" to a member for $15. I really wanted to buy l33t, but I didn't have enough money, I was just around $3 away.
I made a thread in the Lounge asking for $3, unaware of the fact that this was forbidden, but it never got taken down.
A few members promised me money but I didn't get anything after a while, but then came my Knight in Shining Armor, Wolves.
He sent $3 to my PayPal, but the problem was, was that I couldn't purchase the upgrade, so Wolves so very kindly took my money and bought it for me.
It took just a little bit over 48 hours to upgrade, but it was obviously worth the wait. I remember the day clear as the sky, I randomly posted on a thread and I while scrolling up, I saw the "delete post" X and then my yellow username.
The date was 7/11, just a month after my sign up date.
I went about my normal business, giving people my first reps who influenced me greatly throughout my one month career.
Now, as you see, earlier in the month I had won the giveaway for a tag I really liked, Soulmate. I just put it away and didn't really want to sell it because I really liked the name. I'm not sure of the user who gave it to me to date, but I think his name is now something like "LOST".
The day I got l33t, Cute and I swapped usernames and I had some fun with my new features. The next day I decided I would change my alias to something I am known as today, the name Soulmate.
A week or so later, I went to Wisconsin with my friend and was away from HF for about 10 days but couldn't wait to get back.
When I got back I had about 30 IMs and 15 PMs or so, which I was very excited to reply to.
Later in August before school started, I decided to sell both the Gamertags Soulmate, and Ninetales. I sold Soulmate for around $150, and Ninetales for $65, I believe.
I instantly regretted both decisions.
This was when my sales were really booming, I had a shit load of tags and sold them all, then the news came to me that someone "turboed" the Gamertag Soulmate from my customer, and was willing to sell it to me. I bought it for $80 and I still have it, I just don't play on it much.
The rest of the year went normally and nothing big really happened, and I was posting a lot throughout the year, 60 times per day I believe, but I felt it was an obligation and soon stopped, and after that The Lounge became my favorite section of the site. This was around the time that post count in The Lounge was enabled.
In 2012 nothing big happened for a while until the very end of February and the very beginning of March, I joined my first group after Haunter Gang, which was Respawn.
I messaged Ingite, and he told me he would get Astonish to PM me, and I donated and got into one of the groups I am still in now.
I went to Cancun, Mexico for a week exactly, then came back and stated all groups which have not been purchased, were about to be closed unless the leader would step up buy it for the rest of HF's life for a one time $500 donation, or purchase if you will.
I was only in Respawn and TechSperts at the time and I believe that Respawn was already paid off and I didn't want to see one of the first groups I have joined, and am in now to go.
I donated $250 to the group, TheVortex came up with $90, and a few other members paid it off as well, TechSperts is now here to stay.
A few months after, Positive changed the group to Rhythm, a lounging group which was supposed to be for musicians. A few months after that, the group was sold.
But this is my personal story. After writing my old feedback thread, quite a few things happened to me, but besides that it was pretty slow.
I was accepted into Infamous after applying in August. Since then I've been posting thread tutorials in their name because the group is truly amazing.
Not too long after that, I was granted the FPS Gawd award for doing absolutely nothing. I had the Emerald Donator award on my profile, and since I wasn't planning on donating anymore, I asked Omni to take the award away. Instead of doing that, he thought it would be funny to grant me that award as it was green.
Around September, I was permanently denied for ub3r. This happened after applying 6-7 times. I was permanently denied for what I believe was just one reason, being in the group "Haunter Gang" and affiliated with the user "Time".
Haunter Gang was a group that was founded back in August of 2011 and everyone viewed as "LQ", but personally from what I saw when I was in it, I think of it as an older version of "The Empire". It wasn't LQ like most said it was, but you could get in if you paid $10.
Being permanently denied didn't mean anything and I had no intention of asking staff or admins if there was any way I could ever get ub3r. To me, this just meant that I could never have ub3r privileges, which are basically nothing to me.
Nothing significant has happened to me in 2013, but for a long time I only went on HF to check the Infamous subforum and try to represent it in the best way I could. This was because I was very busy with twitter, and always played Black Ops 2.
Section Feedback Spoiler (Click to View)
Like I said, I tried to keep most of the thread positive or neutral, but I definitely have some negative feedback on the sections here.
The Lounge - I liked this section a lot more in 2011 and 2012, now is mainly trolling and people trying to get fame/be funny. I don't really think that normal members should be restricted to posting there only 20 times a day, but other than that there's nothing seriously wrong with it.
Anime Adventures - I haven't been into anime long, but so far this section is mostly full of suggestion threads, I just think that people need to read the stickies.
Halo - I used to only use this section to ask people to play Halo 3, but I've been lurking lately and it's actually pretty nice.
Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, and Black Ops - I honestly hate trickshotting/sniping/shotgunning so this section isn't the best place for me, but I enjoy some discussions that are held there and sometimes people post decent clips/commentaries.
Mobile and Tablet Gaming - This is definitely one of my favorite sections on here and I've read almost every thread since I am really into mobile gaming. If it were more active it would be like a dream come true.
HF l33t OT Discussions - Normal members can't see this section, but I don't think this qualifies as subforum leaking. This is probably my most despised section on here. There are discussions held there called "Upgraded Members Lounges", which are absolute shit and an easy way to get post count up. It's basically a group lounge for everyone who isn't a group but is upgraded.
I am against group lounges as well, but this is just shit like "How is everyone? I just woke up" and "Hello, I am a new l33t, how is everyone?". It's sort of like a bunch of ADHD kids that can't keep a conversation and just say what they're doing.
Gamertags: I definitely have some nostalgia with this section. If you look at my post activity, I have around 6k posts there. I used to constantly post my Gamertags there, but now the section is terrible. Everyone is paranoid and no one has any "amazing" tags.
Group Feedback Spoiler (Click to View)
I have been in quite a few groups on here, but a lot of them has been disbanded so I will only include groups that I have been in or am that are still on the site.
Legacy - This group is pretty great so far. It's a good place for gamers or people who just want to talk about gaming. Way better than Respawn in my opinion.
Infamous - This group is the only reason I am still on HF. It is full of wonderful people and wonderful threads. I'm sure even people who were kicked due to inactivity can agree. However, it can sometimes be a lot of work.
Void - Very interesting group with smart people. There are great discussions and articles posted there daily. It's somewhat like an advanced version of SRPP where no one is ignorant or flames.
The Empire - Today, Tibit was hacked and Who? moved all of the threads out of the subforum into the lounge. This provides great relief for me as I do not want anything to do with this group. I like how it provides a home for members, but a lot of them are annoying and unintelligent from what I see go on from time to time.
Member Feedback Spoiler (Click to View)
Like I said, I won't have many shoutouts, just people who have been good to me and helped me out along the way.
Pali - Thanks for everything, you've helped me out a lot during my time here starting around this time last year.
Saturday - You are probably the person I talk to the most on here and I'm surprised you can still deal with me after all that time. You're a good member and a great thread. Thanks for everything, Bad Corgi.
Hexicidal - Although you are more successful than me on here now, we basically started this together even though we never really talked that much. Thanks for Logic, Void, and letting me help you with your site.
Here are some friends of mine that I used to talk to or talk to now that
deserve some sort of mention: Top, Levi, eiqhtworks, Vinnie, Anima Libera, Elegant, Kosmos, and Stay Plural.
I don't think I missed anyone, but if you think I missed you feel free to PM me.
Just to throw in something extra, I have never used a computer to make a post on HF. I always either use my iPad or iPhone or everything since I don't have a computer.
This concludes my feedback/rant on the features of HF. As you can tell, since 2011 I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for the site but I still enjoy it. Thank you for reading and see you around. El psy congroo.
Also, I don't really care for graphics or images, so since this isn't a coloring book I will keep this pure text. I will use spoilers if you are only interested to see some parts of this.
