Works perfectly for me, thanks. Almost bashed my head in when the extension thing wasn't working for me in chrome.

o_o It may or may not. I don't own an android and haven't found the time to find a fix for it.

Some browsers are just like that, sometimes you just need to force the www.* part.

Still having issues after doing the method for Chrome

EDIT: after posting fixed? wth? It did it before, but went back to the weird formatting with no HTML base and whatnot
Nothing works at all for me.

OS: Windows 8 64 bit
Browser: Chrome
Extensions: RES(Reddit Enhancement Suite), Adblock, The extension you linked in the OP
Firewall/AV: Whatever Windows 8 uses by default. I have not installed anything regarding AV or a firewall.

In the extension you posted I have tried both of these settings:Spoiler (Click to View)
Spoiler (Click to View)

When I visit that link, I get 403, http://x.hackforums.net/cache/themes/theme3/global.css

I've cleared cache and flushed DNS.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: Don't know what the fuck I did, but as I posted this thread, it fixed itself.

Did you visit the link directly or click the link while viewing the thread? If you go to it directly you
have no referrer field. It's empty.

Win 8 comes with Windows Defender. That's M$'s default AV/Firewall. Lol.
--
The referrer field probably reset itself after having made an active post. Do you know how to view
your headers? If so, we can do a couple more steps here to see whats up. If you do reload, some
times that breaks the referrer field for whatever reason.

There is no need to do so much hassle. Just add subdomain www. before the hackforums and your off the horse :) It is just wrongly settup CDN and subdomain usage and redirect :)

Once again when you go to private messages it adds www. before the hackforums so thats why you get part of it but if you do it manually it fixes it self out :)

Try it hackforums.net not hackforums.net.

Eventhough I do not know why firefox does not work because it pushes www. everytime!

If it were this/that simple almost no one would be having problems. But alas, it is not. It literally is
because you cannot reach the .js and .css files (or images) directly anymore and you need the
hackforums.net referrer in your referrer field. Much like this:
Referer: https://hackforums.net/
Code
https://hackforums.net/usercp.php

GET /usercp.php HTTP/1.1
Host: hackforums.net
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0
Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.5
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
[b]Referer: https://hackforums.net/[/b]
Cookie: moo
Connection: keep-alive

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: cloudflare-nginx
Date: Tue, 01 Oct 2013 05:40:09 GMT
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Connection: keep-alive
Vary: User-Agent
Content-Encoding: gzip

I literally do not know how else to explain this to people. It is THIS simple. If your issue is the theme
is broken and you cannot see images, .css or .js files directly; It is because you donot have a
referrer being sent to the HF server. That is all.

There is no difference between www. and no www., it's more or less a convention. If it was as
simple as just adding a www. to beginning of every URL, Omni could have gone to his .htaccess file
and put:
Code
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^hackforums.net [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://hackforums.net/$1 [L,R=301]
Back in the 90's www was just a way to distinguish a web server from its mail server, ftp server,
whatever server, etc etc...But like I said, just try to visit a css file on HF without a referrer.
Get a 403? That's because of the permissions Omni has amended. Go to the CSS file WITH a HF
referrer, and you can see the css? There you go then. Clicking on any link, making a post/thread,
all that crap. When you click a link you automatically set the referrer field to hackforums.net because
that was the previous page you were on.

I'm not trying to rant here guys, but I've said the same thing like 100,000 times now. I almost want
to make some grand tutorial on browsers, http headers, and how servers interact with them. ._.

Sense or nonsense adding www. fixes the problem :) There is no need for much hassle if such a simple temporary fix works :)

I tried the methods on this thread and nothing worked. However you just fixed my issue, thanks. At first I thought it was just the google update because another site had an issue with css also, but now their site is fixed too. I visited private messages before and I was wondering why the site fixed itself, but anyway everything works with the www.
I'm actually still getting this issue today.

Hmph.

Thanks for your help though, Viral. 😝
Why is this not stickied? I believe until Omni is done updating the site it should be.
The theme worked once i added the subdomain to it.
www.

Yeah, but it's just that. Temporary. (or so I've seen thus far from a fair bit of users).

If you clicked on PM's and the site fixed itself it's because you reset the referrer field basically
rendering the addition of www. useless. Lol.

o.o Sorry, would you mind filling out the OP info request so I can better help you. If you're using
the www subdomain, it's only been reported as a temporary fix.

Prob because Omni doesn't have enough time to do so or doesn't think it needs to be stickied.
I am trying my best to keep it at the top though. Lol.

It's a temporary fix, but I'll add it to the OP anyway I suppose. ._.
