Wow i'm really liking this. This sounds really appealing because i mentor bad kids at my school. great experience finding out what makes them bad ect. But this sounds really good. Would this be invite or application? This has great potential if you put it out there right.
This is a good idea. Would these users be semi-moderators?

This group idea definitely has the potential to work out.
But still a group without any abilities is just a regular member.
The group should have some abilities like for example to request a thread to be closed or etc.
Something simple but that can't be abused.
The mentors group wouldn't really be effective without some kind of backing.
Just like staff members , sure the staff have their own group bar but without any abilities their just regular members who no one will listen too.
I'm for the idea though , It could help reduce a lot of the spam and answer a lot of questions for a lot of new members.

Thats all this is. (from what i think) Why is it that you guys have to have some kind of perk for being a mentor? If you would get this you'd realize this is your time to shine and show Omniscient that you could be a good staff someday. This should be just a group to help out imho i think no perks should be Given. Maybe like a orange user-title instead of blue but like idk. I think nothing should be given. This will show the true people that will give give give and not take take take. If you show that you a great mentor and show that your working your ass of in the job omni gave you. Proving him that for a consistency can result in him considering you might be a good staff member. This once again could be great if we ruled out the people that want it for the attributes and the people who really want to help out hack forums

The point of this was what you called "Perks". The unapproved thing it is basically assisting staff by quarantining the violating posts and setting it aside for the staff to decide the action which shaves down the time it is in public.
