Hey guys, Aura here.
In this thread I'll rant about something that has been annoying me for quite some time now. Well, not really a rant but I want to tell you about something in this section that quites upset me and make this section a real mess. What bugs me is people that post and ask for help for every problem there is in this section. YES, this section is probably the most helpful section of the Computing area, it DOES NOT mean that you have to post ALL your problems in it, learn how to post your problem/question in the RIGHT section.
Let me explain what I mean by that. The White Hat Help section is a section dedicated to assist people with : malwares, protection, security, and everything that touches the White Hat domain. This section IS NOT to post and ask your questions about EVERY Computing domain there is. If you are getting BSOD, you can't install a program, you can't connect to the Internet, your RAM is failing, etc. then your thread DO NOT belong in the White Hat Help section. Your question/issue is NOT "White Hat" (malware, let's say) related and obviously not related to the security or protection domain. Hence, you should post your thread in ANOTHER section, the RIGHT section for your question/issue in order to receive the most reliable assistance there is. Right now, around 70% of the threads posted in the White Hat Help section DO NOT belong here and should be posted in other sections. Here, let me show you :
It doesn't seems like there's a lot of threads that do not belong in this section, do you want to know why ? Because I report at least 5 of them, if not up to 10 everyday for "Wrong section" and they get moved in the right section. But I can't always be there to do that and I shouldn't have to do that, and nobody in this section should. I'm not blaming people for asking help on HackForums or in this section, I'm just saying that you're asking help in the WRONG section for YOUR current issue/question, that's it.
Now let me tell you HOW it should be, where each threads should be posted :
These are the sections wheres about 70% of the threads in the White Hat Help section should be posted. Of course, there's still the Virtual Machines section for anything that is VM, Virtualization, etc. related and the Web Browsers section for all your questions about web browsers, but I don't see a lot of threads posted here that belongs in these sections (of course ads pop-ups - adwares -, browser hijackers and etc. belongs in the White Hat Help section and not the Web Browsers section as this issue is malware related). Same goes for the GNU/Linux, FreeBSD and Unix Flavor as well as the Smartphone, Mobiles, Apps, and SDK and Apple Mac and OS X sections.
In the end, it's really simple. Just learn how to post your threads in the right section for your question/issue. Not only it will help us keep a very clean White Hat Help section but it will also create activity, the activity that there should be in the other sections and it will allow YOU, YOU to receive the best assistance there is your YOUR issue, the best answers for YOUR questions. Yes I know, the White Hat Helpers here are very good, but sometimes, they don't know everything about everything. Most of the time, if you have an issue that is hardware related, an Hardware Helper of the Hardware section will provide you with better assistance than a White Hat Helper here.
So please guys, learn how to post your threads in the right section. It's the basics of knowing how to use and post on a forum (knowing where the post your threads) and it will also reduce the numbers of reports the Staff receives as they're already working very hard to keep that forum clean, so doing this will give them a small break and remove a load from their back.
If you are NOT sure of where to post one of your thread, always feel free to send me a PM and I'll tell you exactly in which section it belongs, alright ? 🙂
And for those whose threads are posted here, I'm not mad, upset, etc. against you, don't worry, I even assisted you all I think 😝 I'm just using them as a reference to explain my point, alright ? 🙂
For any questions or comments about this, feel free to post here or send me a PM.

Right now, around 70% of the threads posted in the White Hat Help section DO NOT belong here and should be posted in other sections. Here, let me show you :
- WTH is wrong with my connection? by ZeroRooted - Network connection issue, belongs in the Networking section.
- BSOD Aswell. by Skeptic. - BSOD issues are WINDOWS related. YES malware CAN cause BSODs but this is quite rare and NOTHING let us suspect that these can be caused by a malware yet.
- Got a BSOD by MapleTree - BSOD belongs in the Windows section.
- Blue screen by sparkfear - Here's another BSOD thread, in the Windows section it goes.
- Keyboard sounds play through computer by Tohka Yatogami - That's an interesting one. Keyboard and sound issues. Does it goes in the Windows or Misc. Computer Talk section ? Well the OP says that his friend touched the Sound panel options and hence it's definitively Windows related so it should go in that section.
- Burning ISO to a USB? by Manchester United FC - Thread asking advice for a BURNING software, in the Misc. Computer Talk section it goes.
It doesn't seems like there's a lot of threads that do not belong in this section, do you want to know why ? Because I report at least 5 of them, if not up to 10 everyday for "Wrong section" and they get moved in the right section. Now let me tell you HOW it should be, where each threads should be posted :
- If you have BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), drivers issues (missing drivers, drivers not working, installing, etc.), errors popping up when opening certain programs, Windows features that aren't working properly (except things like disabled Task Manager or Folder Options, etc.), Windows reinstallation questions, creating a new partition under Windows, etc. THEN it should be posted in one of the Windows section, the one matching your current Windows version so either the Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 section OR the Windows 8, RT and Surface section (who also cover Windows 8.1, obviously). You have two whole sections dedicated to Windows issues. So PLEASE ask help there for your Windows related issues first. IF someone there tell you that your issue is most likely caused by a malware, THEN you can either create a new thread in this section asking for help (make sure to close the other one first as it would be crossposting) OR ask a Staff member to move your thread in this section.

![[Image: XCY87rw.png]](https://i.imgur.com/XCY87rw.png)
- If you have connection issues : can't connect to a website, your Internet is disconnecting often, you can't setup your new router, you can't access your router, your IP address is messed up, you SIMPLY want to change your IP address, then all these threads goes in the Networking, Routers, Switches and Firewalls section. These questions and issues are PURELY Networking related and therefore you'll receive better support if you ask your question in this section instead of asking in the White Hat Help section directly. I report tons of these threads (that are Networking related) and they get moved pretty fast, proof that they do not belong here.

- If you have ANY hardware related questions : high CPU, RAM, GPU, etc. temperatures, graphic card not working, upgrading your computer componants, building a new rig, etc. will I'll tell you something, it should be posted in our BEAUTIFUL Computer Overclocking, Customizing, and Hardware section. Reason is that this section is 100% dedicated to hardware and it's question. The members that help there knows their hardware and their way around this domain so I can guarantee you that they will provide you excellent assistance and answer all your questions.
![[Image: JUzZXkw.png]](https://i.imgur.com/JUzZXkw.png)
- If you have a RANDOM question : your keyboard isn't working, you're looking for a video editing program (or any other kind of programs that isn't an Antivirus or a protection software), you want to know what to do with an old computer, you dropped water on your laptop, you want to know what certifications you should take to become a recognized Technical Support, etc. then it should be asked in the Miscellaneous Computer Talk section. Reason is that these questions and issues do not fit really in any other sections and therefore this section is the best place to post them in. IF as the thread goes you realize that this thread belongs in another section as it touches another domain, Hardware for exemple, you can ALWAYS report your own thread as "Wrong Forum" or send a PM to Staff member to move it and it'll be moved.
![[Image: 2fzMxVy.png]](https://i.imgur.com/2fzMxVy.png)
- If you have ANY questions about Web Browsers : which one is the best, which one is the fastest, how to customize Firefox, how can you see the plugins in Google Chrome, etc. then your thread should be posted in the Web Browsers section. Even if you're asking what the most "secure" web browser is, I honestly think this question belong in that section as we're talking about a Web Browser as a whole and therefore it fits in that section. OF COURSE, if you're having random ads pop-ups, you're being redirected to other webpages, random webpages opens while you browse the web, etc. then post your thread here as these are Adwares and Browser Hijackers, they are malwares and therefore this issue can be handled be a White Hat Help section helper in that section.
![[Image: nIMhEiB.png]](https://i.imgur.com/nIMhEiB.png)
- This one is pretty short : if you have ANY questions about VPNs and Proxies, we have a WHOLE section dedicated to them, the VPN, Proxies and Socks section. I know your questions are probably : what is the best VPN, what is a good VPN, should I use proxies, etc. but these questions belong in THIS section and NOT in the White Hat Help section :
![[Image: b3XsvCH.png]](https://i.imgur.com/b3XsvCH.png)
- For ANY questions about pentesting, REAL White Hat Hacking, do NOT post in this section. Except for -Hyperion (that I can think of) and Goodies that post here once a year, we have NO pentesting helpers in that section, due to the fact that we have a WHOLE section dedicated to this White Hat Hacking domain, called the Pentesting and Forensics section. We have really skilled pentesters on HackForums that can answer your questions, however they are all in this section and not in the White Hat Help section so it's useless to come ask for accurate answers and reliable assistance on that domain here, alright ?
![[Image: 7ls3PvL.png]](https://i.imgur.com/7ls3PvL.png)
- If you have any questions that involves Black Hat tools, methodes, techniques, pratices or else. Going from hacking back into your account to cracking one of your friend's account to anything that is considered ILLEGAL and Black Hat, DO NOT POST IN THIS SECTION. It's called the WHITE HAT HELP section for a reason, we WON'T assist you with ANYTHING that is BLACK HAT related AT ALL. Do you understand that ? So take your questions in the Hacks, Exploits, and Various Discussions area of HackForums in the right section for your question/issue.
