Hey, I have been interested in learning hacking for awhile. I have played around with cain and abel a bit and not much more(not really a fan of c&a). So, I was wondering if someone could provide the names and maybe even download links of the more dependable programs for checking out the internet in new ways? I have come across a rat program called darkcomet quite a few times but it seems to be a bit out of date.
I haven't got, nor have I used any rat's, keyloggers, brute force, vpn, or booter programs.
I do not intend on doing any hacking(maybe peak around a little if possible) until I am confident that i have sufficient knowledge and skill to do so. Also, I am literally broke so all the programs would have to be obtained without the use of money(free) 😉
Sorry about being such a newb, but we all do have to start somewhere right?
First you must learn the ways of the programming guru.

Welcome 🤝. There is plenty of knowledge around these parts. As for tools kali linux has a pretty impressive toolset. A good starter vpn i currently use is [censored] very user friendly, has free and premium options, but you will have to add certain sites to the exclusions list, as the free IPs are blacklisted on some sites, like this one for instance.
Cool, cool. I got Python and MySQL. I am currently trying to learn how to make a gui :)

Basically, be confident with a few programming languages, choose what tpye of hacking you want to get into, go to that section on HF and look around. Welcome to HF!

Ty :) I have read up on how rat programs work. What rat program would be best?
Assuming you are using Windows or Mac, get linux. Way more potential if you want to learn hacking.

Linux is an operating system not a computer.
Could you offer me a little instruction on how to get it, or would you just recommend that I search for instructions that are already up?

You can always download VirtualBox from https://www.virtualbox.org/
and then you could download a Linux distribution system (Ubuntu, Kali, Mint, Fedora, etc.).
You can go to youtube.com and/or google "How to download and install (Linux distribution name here) in VirtualBox".
That should give you some results.
That's one way of getting Linux installed on your computer.

An alternative to virtualbox is vm player its free for non commercial use. Virtualbox and VM Player are called virtual machines (vm), basically it allows you to run another operating system (guest) within your current operating system (host). There are many videos and tutorials on how to setup a linux distro in a vm, there are 100's if not thousands of linux distributions (distros) out on the interwebs, some are designed for servers - Redhat, centOS, some are for your average user like Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, theres even a distro for penetration (pen) testing, here enters Kali Linux, formerly known as backtrack, kali has a whole array of tools to test networks, website exploits, password crackers etc. Any linux distro will do for hacking/pen testing its all about the tools, which can be installed, kali just has the pre-installed ready to go.
Hope this helps a little 👍
Okay, I have downloaded and installed VirtualBox. I have also gotten Ubuntu, however, my cpu(not a very good pc) is not good enough to run it. I will try the other one suggested :)

You dont need a new computer to be able to run Linux on it. Linux is 100% free and is downloadable from several sites

I have already been informed of this, but thanks ^-^
Update: I have kali 1.0.8, I clicked graphical install and it comes up with:
"This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only dected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
_"
Update2: I am going to download a 32 bit version. apparently vm will not run 64bit because of my pc hardware.
