Further Discussion On Studio Ghibli Disbandment
After Hayao Miyazaki's departure from Studio Ghibli, co-founder and Executive Director, Toshio Suzuki, suggested major overhauls of the Studio, including the possibility of taking apart the production department of the Studio. This is only a possibility however and Suzuki himself has only confirmed that the business shall be going through a period of restructuring. What was to be included within this restructuring process was not said, though could this throw the future of Studio Ghibli, the famed studio that has brought out such classics as "My Neighbour Totoro" and "Howl's Moving Castle", into the fog while the next generation of the company take over?
Japanese Groin Relief Adverts
Are you like most men who suffer from groin itching. Ya know, where it's just really sore and won't stop itching, no matter how many times you have to 'adjust' yourself. Well Japan knows, here's a clip from an advert helping relive these pains. Not really "news", but boy are these funny.
Fatal Frame Trailer Released
I've always been a fan of horror games, I'm not sure why because I can never atually play them myself without being a shaking mess, the same goes for its movies. Why do I love horror so much though and seeing others play it? Just the sheer beauty of game design and the stories. The first 3 Resident Evil's were perfect and another creepy game to come out of Japan was Fatal Frame. A game about 2 girls who can see ghosts; ghosts which are not friendly and to stop them they use a camera to scare them away. Okay it sounds silly written down but the game was creepy beyond belief when first released and now the first trailers for the live action have been released, and boy do they capture the Japanese-ambient creepiness. Watch the trailer all the way through and you'll know what I mean.

Synopsis
In Tokyo's downtown district of Ikebukuro, amidst many strange rumors and warnings of anonymous gangs and dangerous occupants, one urban legend stands out above the rest—the existence of a headless "Black Rider" who is said to be seen driving a jet-black motorcycle through the city streets.
Ryuugamine Mikado has always longed for the excitement of the city life, and an invitation from a childhood friend convinces him to move to Tokyo. Witnessing the Black Rider on his first day in the city, his wishes already seem to have been granted. But as supernatural events begin to occur, ordinary citizens like himself, along with Ikebukuro's most colorful inhabitants, are mixed up in the commotion breaking out in their city.
Characters
![[Image: 97698.jpg]](https://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/9/97698.jpg)
Masaomi "Bakyura, Shogun" Kida
Kida is Mikado Ryuugamine's childhood friend and resident of Ikebukuro. Kida is an easy-going guy and appears foolhardy at times. He is 15 years old and is in class 1-B.
Mikado says that Kida used to be very energetic in elementary school and describes him as being quite charismatic. Kida seems to know many of the residents of Ikebukuro and he functions as a guide to Mikado.

Mikado "Tanaka Taro" Ryuugamine
The primary male protagonist of the series, Mikado Ryugamine is a high school boy who moved to Ikebukuro with the encouragement of his best friend Masaomi in order to search for unusual beings and adventure. Mikado tries hard to change his image but so far he has not had any luck. Mikado has had moments where he speaks his mind, which is a reason why Masaomi admires him.

Anri Sonohara
A bespectacled girl who attends the same school as Mikado and Masaomi. She is rather quiet and timid, but seems very close towards Kida and Mikado. She is very busty and cute, which makes her somehow popular, even though she feels uneasy about it. Mikado seems to have a crush on her.
Tails' Opinion
Another week, Another review. This one is great though. If you havent got it already, we are reviewing Durarara!! (DRRR for short from here on out). DRRR is a special show. Its very complex. It has a couple of different storylines all tying into one in 24 episodes. The story structure is much like last weeks Mekakucity actors. Except DRRR is really good. Its a little confusing at first but you have to stick with it. The story pans out and everything becomes clear. Its not perfect though. It has hiccups that you'll have to decide for yourself but I would say a couple of things escalated far too quickly. Maybe giving the overall show a feeling that its a little rushed. With the little branching storylines I would say there is no fade in and fade out. Its like breaking through a brick wall and running straight into another one a little later. I give the story a 8/10
The characters? Well, I thought the characters were the best part of the whole show. The progression for every single character is amazing. Its not like you see the actions to make them progress but you learn more about them as the show goes on giving them massive progression. I really really wish more shows would take a swing at this method of character progression aside from the standard dicisions/storyline based progression. Also, the trouble you would maybe think you would get from incorporating each individuals progression isnt really there. They shed light on a characters true actions and self and blend it masterfully into the grand scheme of things. Its fantastic.
I give the characters a 10/10.
The art is probably the weak point of the show if there is one. Its not that its bad. In fact is pretty good, but in a show that is so near perfect in other aspects I got the feel that the art was maybe a little slacked on at times. Like I said, not bad. Really good actually. But I expect more when you set the standard so high with the rest of the aspects of the show.
I give the art an 8/10.
Overall, I can say DRRR is a must watch for every person that even thinks they like anime. Its really good. Like if one of my anime watching friends died without seeing it, I would resurrect them just to watch this show. Its not perfect but its enjoyment level was "over 9000"
Programmargorp's Opinion
Finally, a review that I don’t have to talk about series that are either absolute crap or just crappy and overhyped. This week, we have a (slight?) blast to the past back to 2010 with a Light Novel series written by Narita Ryougo (who has also written other high key series such as Baccano!) combined with the masterminds behind Penguindrum, Spice and Wolf II, Kawaisou, etc.
The star of this week’s review is none other than Durarara!
Now, you guys should know that I’m not exactly a big fan of the shounen demographic; mainly due to the fact that most of the time you get either “with the power of friendship” or just flat out deus ex the ending. There are a few exceptions to this such as Ga Rei Zero, Zetsuen no Tempest and of course, Durarara!
So, Durarara follows a (kind of) linear plotline which describes the interactions between three different gangs, The Yellow Scarves, The Dollars and “Saika”. Again, I attempt to not spoil anything in this review, so I’ll just dump my thoughts about it here.
The story of Durarara was clearly structured and overall pretty nicely written in terms of the anime adaption. While it wasn’t free from clichéd tropes, it was written well enough to be decent.
Story wise, I rate this an 8/10.
Onto the characters; this is where the series really shines.
In most anime series I watch these days, there is one thing that’s always there and always there and always overemphasized to the point that it begins to cloud the development of the characters. Yes, the thing I’m talking about here is Moe. Durarara is no exception to this, however it manages to suppress it enough to provide coherent character development. At the same time, the characters themselves were not lacking as well.
Character wise, I rate this an 8/10
This time around, the art is done by Brains Base, which from my experience (Penguindrum, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Oregairu, D-Frag, Kawaisou, etc.) have constantly provided above average art in the world of anime. This is no exception with Durarara, the scenes are well composed and animation is fluid. The art style, although simple and fits quite well with the series was (in my opinion) above average, but not the best.
Art wise, I rate this an 7/10
Now, down to the real thing that differentiates this from other shounen series, i.e. Enjoyment. Generally I don’t enjoy shounen series (sure I watch them, but that’s a whole different story). Durarara on the other hand is one of the few shounen series that I can honestly say I enjoyed. Everything from the fast paced action scenes to the slow talking scenes were pretty enjoyable.
Enjoyment wise, I rate this a 9/10.
In the end, Durarara is one of those series that you must watch if you’re a fan of the shounen demographic and especially so if you think that the “bst animes evur” is Naruto.
Tails' Rating 9/10
Programmargorp's Rating 8/10

Hoshizora no Memoria
Synopsis:
Hoshizora no Memoria was produced in 2009 by Crossnet.
The story begins with the protagonist, Kogasaka You, moving back to his hometown, which he left behind several years ago. Upon arriving, he stumbles into an abandoned, sealed observatory, whereupon he encounters a mysterious girl who looks exactly like his childhood friend did years ago. She introduces herself as Mare, a shinigami who reaps nightmares.
Meanwhile, back at school, You ends up joining the astronomy club, which is desperate need of new members. At night, he continues to visit Mare at the observatory, all the while trying to remember a certain someone's name...
Story Review:
Hoshizora no memoria is definitly one of the best visual novels I've played, only Katawa Shoujo and G senjou no Maou ranking higher, Hoshizora no Memoria kept me occupied for hours and made me feel sad, made me laugh out loud, made me get pissed off (Damn tsunderes) overall an amazing story.
Sound:
The soundtrack for this VN was absolutly amazing, I'm starting to think that VN's have better music than most of the music being produced nowadays. The music is soft and really gives the reader a setting that you can feel, sound effects are everywhere and fit perfectly.
Art:
The art in this was abosulutly to die for, it had some of the cutest (ANIMATED!) scenes I've ever seen, you have the loving brother complex sister, the tsundere that you princess carry, and the cute redhead in a maid outfit. Any fetish you may have, it's in here for sure.
Some screenies.
