Kind Sir, I would like to ask you a question or two regarding programming.

First of, I have a degree in Computer Science (even though I only know basic programming and I haven't code in 5 years + so I have forgotten everything)

My question is whether I can learn Android programming from scratch without any knowledge of other programming languages (Android is based on JAVA afaik?) And If so, would you point me in some direction from where to learn, what to learn etc?

Thanks a lot and hope to hear from you :)

Thanks,

D

No you can't just jump into "Android Programming" because you still need to program and how are you gonna write an application, if you have no idea how the language you're using to write the application work?

You can use any language you desire, but Java or C++ is probably the best choice.

Jumping straight into android would be very hard. Although it theoretically would be possible, as stated above, you really need a good understanding of Java. Try learning some java on desktop first, android is quite different but the syntax, etc is all the same. Debugging is also a bit harder on android.
Do you guys accept new helpers? I'd be up to help anyone with: PHP and VB.NET... ;)

Just curious, why do neither of you recommend jumping straight into android programming especially if he's just using java (no JNI needed). It is the exact same as programming for desktop besides a GUI is required, besides the difference of debugging as you mentioned - LogCat should be improved, but everything else is identical. (Technically you could even write an entire desktop app then just wrap it and run it directly on android if wanted - just inefficient, reason we use XML instead)

What I meant was straight into android programming if you have no programming experience.

You can apply for the group or get invited by leaders (I don't think is done by asking them for sure.)

I'm not in the coding sector, but I'll be lurking around to help people out with their problems.
Feel free to ask us anything guys, we're here to help!

Alright thanks ;)
Finally back from vacation, will be posting there as soon as I can :D
I'm availlable to help people out, feel free to ask us anything.
I am also available now for questions. My field of expertise is Java but I can probably help in other languages too.
I am always available too and I can answer questions or help in the following languages: C, C++, C#, D, Java, Python, ASM & Rust
Hmm, i was wondering something quite complicated : Can you make a malware works with TOR (in silent), and if you can, what's the best language to do it ?
Thanks!

If you mean making a botnet through tor(like using proxies to make your central server invisible) it is certainly possible. You can probably do it in any language you want.

Also 1K Posts woot!

Well, i am considering making a TOR botnet. I only know php very well, i will have to learn vb6 i guess. Thanks.
Just remember TOR is a socket proxy, not http proxy.
