OMC

Mined and Blown

Doesn't mean we can't wait with that. We should just have the address shown for starters and then we can spend time figuring it out later.
I have an idea but it's not the best. Basically, what I was thinking is that we give members reach a certain post amount OMC to start them out on their OMC career. For example, say if we did it so when people reach 500 post they get 1000 omc. How would this help? This would introduce more people into OMC and not just any members. People that reach 500 posts are normally HQ members so we will be adding HQ members to OMC and the chance of people spamming for it will be low because no one is going to spam 500 posts for 1000 OMC. Do you think that would improve OMC at all?

We could submit omnicoin for voting on coinwarz

As long as people here knew about it, I am sure we could win. Perhaps a sticky in the lounge for a week would give us enough votes to put us at the top. But if the thread was only posted in this SF we would be lucky to get 20 votes total.
Yeah. I'm pretty disappointed in OMC in general. I think many of us have invested quite a bit and only been left with losses. I personally don't blame everything as it was just bad luck that the coin hasn't yet really expanded.
I just wanted to share my personal experience with OMC. Personally I started when OMC came out, but I only dealt with it for the first two weeks but stopped soon after because I just didn't see too much use with the coin. Last time I looked I had about 1K OMC just because I haven't been able to use them as much since it is mostly a HF currency. If it were to be implemented I am sure I would be using it a lot more. Not sure how it might help/harm what you are worried about, but I just think the site itself needs more to include OMC.

I personally if there was a tipping feature, would like to at the least be PM'ed or noticed who tipped me, how much, and the amount. Maybe even a Anonymous Tipping option would be nice (possibly like only allowed for 3PIC Ub3r perhaps). As for publicly, I would like to see something to show something to show it has been tipped before, but I wouldn't mind having stats like how many times.

Exactly. Without the publicity people wouldn't bother doing nice things most of the time. I'm afraid that isn't how humans work.
Mining creates downward pressure on price, this is not really news anymore, I mean look at BTC, there are plenty of "uses" for it but when new injections of $ fail to keep up with newly mined coins being dumped on exchanges the price can only go down. Like I said months ago, find someone who can hard fork the coin and convert to 1% proof of stake and the price will skyrocket.
I feel sorry for you Omni, that you put your time and money into something but it isn't working out, hopefully maybe one day OmniCoin will blow up.

If there was an extras page with recent tips, such as how the neg rep page is set up, I imagine people would view it often. They'd see the tips being sent from somebody to somebody else, the amount, and possibly even a message if Omni was kind enough to implement that. If the tipping system was set up like that I imagine it could have a lot of success.

Yeah you and I were there from the start. We watched our friends lost interest one by one, slowing but surely dropping. Most left the OMC economy and never came back.
It's really sad to see a coin which had great potential for the HF community to be on its last back legs. I'll keep what i'm thinking in my own head.

Regardless, goodluck with any future plans you have left for OMC. Hope it turns out well for the existing dev team.
Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.

You should sell some of your omc @ omni

That would simply inflate the market which is exactly the opposite of what omni wants to do.
Hey, I've got a small suggestion - maybe you could integrate a web wallet into HackForums itself for L33T/UB3R/3P1C members?

I've just found out about Omnicoin, I hope it blows up one day :)
I only use https://ricochet.im - ricochet:lmi3tdtlsnziqwdk

The tipping idea is great but hard to carry out flawlessly without bringing a omnicoin wallet to hf.net its self. I personally am still holding 50k omc. I've lost about 60$ from it so far so I just hope that we can somehow revive.

I agree. I don't see any situation where it would work unless there was one integrated with HF. Not unless there was quite a bit of work put into it with an external website/wallet that everyone would have to be registered on to receive tips.
