OMC

What Do We Need?

Not sure about the rules and regulations on this... But an omc lottery would be cool, buy your ticket with omc and win omc. Shame that you probably can't trust anyone to run this without taking the piss.

That would be cool. OMC lottery... hmm. Anyone know how to code that?

We don't allow the site to be used for gambling which entails on-site lotteries, pools, or drawings. Discussion of gambling itself is allowed.

Considering it would be off-site, but advertised on-site, would it even be allowed?

Yes, it would be. You can talk about it on HF, you just can't host it on HF.

You could always make it so that people have the option to pick say 3-5 numbers, and then the system generates random ones. Whoever has the winning numbers wins the lottery.

Or you could make a system that each time somebody buys a ticket, the ticket ID is their number, and if their number is picked at random, they win the lottery.

I could code both of these suggestions.

Yes, the difficult part is proving that you didn't pick the lottery winner yourself (Also known as making it provably fair). You could use the blockchain for deciding on the number(s) to pick.

Oh cool. Could you add me on Skype at [email protected] ?
XMPP works too.

Not really, actually. It's easy enough to just give users a salted hash of the winning number, and provide proof once someone wins.
Imo, i think we should reach out to stuff that can get peoples atention. One thing i think it would be great is working with a game that has Micro-transactions. Basically, you can buy in-game money with Omnicoins. A give away would be nice, but we need a place where to spend the omnicoins. One thing, i guess we could promote the usage of omnicoins as a payment method here on HF. Like, if someone is selling Cs Go items, and accepts Omnicoins, we could give him a free sales tag or something. An instant exchange would be amazing, but im aware that its not easy...
