Cloudflare appears to have finally moved me up the support ladder to level 2 tech, which they should have done immediately anyways. One of the guys I speak with regularly has said it's dealt with.
On a side note one of my options is to consider Google Shield.

I sent them a contact already discussing how HF would be the perfect beta site for their service. HF experiences many attacks in a wide spectrum of styles. That along with my person system administration capabilities would mean that HF could greatly increase the DDOS protection they are aiming for.
This year I'm expecting some hardware changes to how HF is served. Even though we run with Cloudflare I don't fully rely on it for all my protection. There is still room for improvement and I believe it's past due that we upgrade hardware and in that moment I can also implement a new serving structure that should improve uptime even more.
I know we'll never have 100% uptime. I've always said I'm happy with 98% actually. But I need the proper tools to combat attacks. Sadly Cloudflare actually takes these tools away from me because I rely on their systems to be working to thwart some attacks.
I'm never deterred by attacks either. I find them a challenge and the uptime a victory. DDOS attacks also provides me strong sysadmin experience. It's like a puzzle. No one likes to be confused but figuring out all the pieces is rewarding enough that you want to do it.
