Is it a good idea to add ads in my application?

Hello again 🤝 . I am making an application expected to make a pretty big hit, coded in vb.net. I have put quite some hours on it (around 100, including the website and the graphics) and I would like to monetize it. The sad part is that I am using an API that is basic for my application, that restricts me from selling licenses/subscriptions of any type, but it allows ads. So is it a good idea to add advertisements? Or should I just hope for donations,or maybe both (remove ads if someone donates)?

Also, Is there any good advertising network that i can easily deploy in my application? Is there any tutorial on that?

Another option is to sell the source. The application is completely functional without bugs and it is pretty useful, and with around 100 hours of work put into it, whats a sell price i could expect?
No, you look like a shitty guy if your application has ads.

Indeed. But what other option do I have? I still have to make a living, and we all know donations aren't enough.
If you can make an application that is used a lot and the ads are not obnoxious (like utorrent) then yea, go for it

It will obviously not be like that. Like, one ad every 15 buttons you press.
Use ads on your website, or adf.ly links, ads inside apps are way too annoying, they will make you lose all your customers.
You can sell copies just fine. You can't sell licenses/subscriptions of the API, but you can sell a program that uses the API if I am correct.
in my opinion dont add adds , try to add sell place , they buy a place in your app , remotely you can change them

thats my opinion i dont know if its good one , but ill prefer this

But you still use uTorrent, because it's a good program. That's the difference. You need it.

Popup ads everytime you click 15 buttons? That would be extremely annoying, I'd take a banner over that.

I think ad wont be a good idea, neither will be donation because very few will donate. Why did you spend 100 hours that cannot be sold
Make a constant visible banner? Doesn't have to be 1000x1000 pixels at all.

It states that I am not able to sell exclusive or partial access to the program, and it has to be free sadly. The only thing it allows is ads.

I will probably go for an adf.ly link to download the software, one more to obtain a "key" to activate it, and a small (picture box) banner on the main page of the program, that has an image "for sale, please contact me on ****", thanks a lot guys, the help is greatly appreciated.
Whats up with people these days?? Ads, Money, Money, Ads .... Nobody shares Code :( Open Source is the best way to go :)

Dont use Ads, its annoying mate.

EDIT : I Know its called Capitalism :D
