My Thoughts on Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo [The Pet Girl of Sakurasou]

I know this anime is quite old but still,
I just wanted to review it. Thank you
.

SPOILER ALERT
Hello!
Good day!
I love making reviews on animes every now and then,
This is the first time that I will be sharing a review on this forum tho.
This is about Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo,
I just recently watched it and I think this is a perfect time to make a review since it's still fresh on my mind.

To start off, the anime is quite unique and unpredictable.

Plot

Sakura Dormitory is a dorm of the high school affiliated with Suimei University of the Arts (often shortened as Suiko),
which hosts the strangest, most trouble-making students.
After being kicked out of the normal dorm for keeping a stray cat, Sorata Kanda moves into Sakura Dormitory.
As he starts to get used to the life in the dorm, Mashiro Shiina, a world famous artist who cannot even take care of her daily life, moves in.
Sorata is forced to become Mashiro's handler.
The story is about their daily lives as well as mental growth.

Story:

This anime is categorized as a romantic anime, tho I think it's far from that.
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo is an anime that emphasizes friendships and slices of life.
The anime shows the distinction between geniuses (Shiiro and Misaki)
from those who are ordinary (Sorata, Jin and Nanami) while living in the same dormitory (Sakurasou).

This show is primarily about acceptance of life.

Characters (main characters only) :

Sorata Kanda
Also known as "Kouhai".
Not as unique as you want him to be, a typical anime guy who were loved by girls (as always).
Childish, never learns (until the latter part). Always blames someone for his failures.
Love cats.

Mashiro Shiina
Really interesting, she built uniqueness to the show and add more drive into it.
An idiot savant(search this please don't get offended) that can only paint at first and learned life in the end.

Nanami Aoyama
A typical martyr. That's all, a girl that worked hard and never got picked by the boy. (again, as always)
At times this was confusing, because Sorata stuttered more and blushed more with her than Shiiro, but still, a NO.

Jin Mitaka
Unique character, a womanizer who loves a girl (Misaki) but thought of himself as inferior, because of this he avoided his feelings for Misaki.
Mature and gave good advices. Realiable.

Misaki Kamiigusa
A typical female energetic character (less unique). More like Kawashima of Toradora.
A genius in making animations (animator in-the-making).

Ryūnosuke Akasaka
A unique character, he practiced "Hikikomori" a Japanese way of isolating oneself from social life.
The first anime character that I've watched that practiced such exclusion.
He always stayed in his room, but changed on the latter episodes as he got closer to the group.
A programmer and a hacker.

Sound effects:
Songs from this anime are amazing and played at the right time and at the right scene.

Conclusion:
-This anime is one of the most touching animes ever,
-The ending is as touching as Angel Beats (Not in a sad way, it's happy. A graduation feeling of departure).
-If you are looking for a romantic anime, I would recommend it the LEAST,
-Its not that romantic, this anime is full of life and it's joys and tears, welcomes and goodbyes.
-The ending is so good and well made that it is a 2-part ending. (episodes 23-24),
-It's one of the anime endings that can make you cry (again, happy tears).
-If there would be a 2nd season its an "OK" for me, since there are new characters that were introduced at the end,
but as an anime fan, I wish the anime ends like it ended.

It's a good anime. :D
I hate goodbyes so yeah, teary (well at least for me).

Rating:
9/10

Solid review, well done
Just a one suggestion really, be sure to check your spellings and grammar. I just skimmed and found 2 typos and about 4 grammatical errors. You know what they say, if you are gonna do something, do it well.

Thank you very much, I forgot to edit it.
I got carried away while adding colors, pictures and other stuff into it.
Thank you~.
Great review and I couldn't agree more, I loved this anime, also gave it a 9/10.

I wish there was a season 2 but from what I've heard the LNs kind of suck after the anime ends.
Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria is a masterpiece 10/10

Thank you for your reply. I Appreciate it. :)
I searched it's manga series and found only 9 volumes of it.
The story and and the dialog are not quite the same as with the anime.

I think most of the episodes are fillers only.
Tho it sold 850K copies, I wonder why they didn't look much into it.

Oh wow didn't know there was a manga of Sakurasou o.o

Might give it a try next then, finishing a couple new manga first.

Great review Yuno, even though I feel I disagree with an overall 9/10 (mostly soundtrack and too many plot holes/afterthoughts) you did a great job describing the mood of the anime. Definitely a great show for anyone looking for a feel good anime.

Thank you for your comment Black Hole :)
I think the plot holes and after thoughts you were describing is because of the fillers that were made to lengthen the anime.
😉

You should, Shiiro is more talkative in manga. :D
Thanks I didn't know a manga existed.
I'd agree most of the show was filler, but that parts that were not were touching at times.
Still an anime I enjoyed watching but it lacked substance at times.
Shiina's still best girl.

Thank you for commenting, specially you Shiina.
And yes, you are the best girl!
A pure white girl with no trace of whatever.
:D
