I was wondering if you could remove duplicate username changes? It says I changed my username 12 times when it's been only 6.
I blame Chrome/Linux for this. I dunno what happened

Username History Changes |

You changed your username 9 times in the past six months therefore it will only display 9 username changes (Sep 9, 2015 02:10 PM)Omniscient Wrote: Would be a terrible resource hog. But I thought the usernames were saved with the user SQL ID. It would be that much of a resource hog to create a function that fetches the usernames from the table that stores the past names and show them in a small dialog in the post? With the type of server you're running the SQL service on, I would of thought it would be nothing compared to the other queries running on the site. I remember creating a similar system for a popular GTA SA:MP Server and it only ran the query around 2,000 times per second and it used 0.5% of the SQL Service. You have 2 choices to accomplish your request. 1. Upon showthread.php load you'd have to check every user against any new username changes. And of course you'll need to preg_match or some function to look for the quote text. The username table is large but even if you reduce the query like: SELECT from mybb_username_history WHERE UID IN(1,3,5423,232333) SORT BY date DESC The "IN()" would of course grab each UID in the page which is normally 20 UID's. Then it would have to check quote mycode for a possible change. Then update the post in the database for future efficiency. And realistically it's probably even more complicated than that. 2. Every time a username change occurs you'd run a query with a LIKE statement to find each quoted instance of the old username and then run an UPDATE statement. I can only imagine how long that would take. Almost positive this would choke the server instantly. Changing showthread.php is not something I do lightly and I make sure mybb_posts table change are minimized because doing any type of LIKE searching will destroy the database. That's why I run a separate service for searching here. You even want to add an UPDATE statement based on the LIKE. No way would it work. |
