"If abuse does continue it's likely that we will stop allowing members to leave custom comments in all reputations and create canned (previously written) comments."
I think there should just be a "report" button after every reputation, so you can report a reputation.
It'd be unfair if the system would be changed to a pre-written reputation system, just because a few rotten apples like to abuse this system.
I understand your concern, and I know it's a headache and a lot of work to keep removing these reputations and punishing the users who abuse it.
You could just invest 1 week in making this reputation report system, and it'd be way easier for you and your colleagues as well to review reported reputations and take all necessary steps straight from the "report panel".
I was thinking of:
1. User reports a reputation
2. Report appears in an admin panel as "User | Reputation Reason | Button:[Ban user/Delete Rep/Repkill user/Warn user]"
3. You or any other Staff member would just simply click one of the buttons and problem solved.
Custom reputations are really important on this forum, and even if there'd be pre-written reasons, they would still get abused I assume.
Just thought to share my opinion on this case. :)

I dont believe this is fair because if a non upgraded member gets scammed it goes unheard of.
users will want to deal with their scam reports if people leave them a few negative reps.
and the way its looking so many people get scammed that, if the community had the right to go in and rep fuck a fag themselves without having to wait and see if the said scammer would be closed this would make it 10x easier to spot a scammer and prevent them from going on a spree.
which means less work for omni.

Sound fair to me Omni. Are you able to leave just a link to a scam report in the rep without stating anything else?

Only if you're linking to a Deal Dispute thread YOU HAVE CREATED.
Your question is indeed answered in the Help Doc.
Go read it now. Immediately.

That's borderline abuse but I will remove it.

Are you removing other invalid reps now or is this just an isolated case?

One question mate.
You closed the member Melty when he scammed myself and a few other members. https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=2466809
Since then you've let him rejoin HF on https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=2858882
What's the go with leaving the new account a scammer rep? Can I still link the dispute on his new account?

Quote:• Scammer Reputation: You're required to leave a link to a Deal Dispute thread you have created to infer someone is a scammer (ie: scammer, scams, chargebacks, scamming). Please note that a Deal Dispute link must be your own thread you've created. It cannot be a thread opened by another member.
• Deal Dispute Linking: We don't allow you to link to a Deal Dispute forum thread that's opened by another member.

He never reported it because he knew I'd close his account for ban evasion. Which of course, now I did. This is why I have the policy.

Omni,
How about leaving a scam remark on someone's sales thread with the dispute link.
Is that allowed?

Doesn't that count as sales-trashing?
