As I have said, I have absolutely nothing against Pokemon or Pokemon Go. I have 3 binders of Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh and Magic cards in my home. I used to love playing those card games when I was younger, and rocked Pokemon Yellow all day on my Gameboy Color. I have nothing against Pokemon Go.

HOWEVER, seeing Pokemon Go threads be the majority of View New Posts is getting tiring. I am not saying we get rid of the section - no, not at all. I am not saying it was a bad idea to have a place to talk about it. I'm not implying that the award was a bad idea. All I'm saying is that it kind of sucks that nearly 50% (sometimes less, sometimes more) of the "hot threads" in View New Posts are about Pokemon.

Is anyone else a little irritated (whether you're for or against P:Go) by this?
Maybe I stand alone in this. I click View New Posts more than any other link on this forum, so maybe my opinion on the matter is skewed because of how much I rely on that function to find new posts... Then again, maybe other users do that too.
For me, it's painfully obvious how View New Posts has changed since Pokemon Go came out. In the past, you'd go to View New Posts and although you'd see some Lounge and other casual posts, there were still a lot of interesting topics popping up that were related to hacking, coding, etc. Those obviously still show up, but since Pokemon Go is so popular, you'd pretty much have to view multiple pages of View New Posts today to see the same amount of hacking related topics you could see on just Page 1 earlier.

All in all, I'm down with whatever. Obviously having a Pokemon Go section is a benefit to HF. Why? Clearly it's encouraging posting and discussions... A whole new market of botting is starting because of the game. With Pokemon being able to be traded, we'll see that market explode too. Overall, Pokemon Go services and discussions are a benefit to this forum. It will also bring in new members that may be interested in Pokemon Go / hacking the game, but nothing else that's here. That's all fine and I'm glad Omni is looking for new ways to expand this site. I'm happy that future games, apps, etc might be given a section (or subforum) on HF too.

I hope my opinion on the matter makes sense, and I'm eager to hear what other HF users think!

I have 3 binders because they were in my parents home that I moved out of years ago. My mom was clearing out the attic and gave the binders to me and told me to sell them. I haven't sold them since she gave them to me weeks ago... Mostly because they aren't worth much, but also because it's nice to reminisce every now and then.

Sometimes seeing all of those Pokemon Go posts can be somewhat annoying, but you're going to have to deal with it. I don't really play Pokemon Go that much, but the fact that it got my no-life cousin off his fat lazy ass and out of his room for once is enough for me to support it 🤣

I write at 100-120+ words per minute when I'm structuring my own sentences and ideas. I write even faster when I'm copying data / information. I'm not worried about the amount of writing I include in my posts because it's not hard for me. Also, don't you think it's kind of sad that you're bashing a HF user for actually trying to spark a discussion? I don't know about you, but I'm personally proud of spending too much time on my posts, and sad when I neglect my duty to be HQ by posting 1 sentence.

In all honesty, I wasn't even that upset about this whole thing for a while. However, I've been part of this one Skype group since... let's see, maybe 2010 or so? I think I might have actually joined earlier than that. In the last 6+ years, we've talked about coding, web design, SEO, and related topics 90% of the time. If we're not discussing that, we're shooting the shit or talking about politics. Since Pokemon Go has come out, that Skype chat has become a hangout for Pokemon Go botting discussions, P:Go hacking, etc. That was the tipping point... I think it's the combination of seeing a lot of different communities shift that has ticked me off a bit.

That all said, I realize that Pokemon Go is new and cool. It won't be like this forever. It will die down, as everything does, and especially so on HF once the award isn't in as many peoples' minds.
Also, I can't stress enough that I'm fine with the game and people that play it. Just like Arcco, I have seen people get off their ass. I know a few people who are home dwellers that don't go out much... now they're walking around hunting Pokemon. I've seen World of Warcraft addicts (guys and gals that only play WoW, and refuse invites to hang out to play the game) finally stop playing WoW to go catch Pokemon. It's a good game in that sense. I am very excited for similar games to come out, especially ones that integrate VR headsets. However, I still feel slightly annoyed at the shift of discussions here, in that Skype chat, and elsewhere.

Nothing, I don't expect anyone to do anything lol. In all honesty, except for the first day or two of the Pokeball award, I've not read much regarding Pokemon. I don't doubt you at all when you say a ton of people have been posting about their hatred for this game... but I personally skip over anything that is related to Pokemon at this point, so I really haven't seen that many. I generally skip over Lounge posts too. If my thread is 1 out of many, and I'm just saying shit that others have said then I apologize for wasting everyone's time.
