Never been to either, but I may have to opt for 1 year in jail. 3 months in the harshest prison in the state would probably do more damage to me than 1 year in jail.

I highly doubt someone will "assrape" me or try to "murder" me while I'm in real prison. Is it a possibility ofcourse, but this isn't Hollywood or a movie, real prison isn't like what you see in the movies. Yes there are some crazy prisons out there, but most of them are not in the US.
