Many researchers and notable people have began to look at Romeo and Juliet as a comedy, rather than a love story. I remember a kid asked a teacher "This seems too humorous to be a serious love story" and she responded by describing the comedy theory.
While many others say that the death of the two main characters means it is without a doubt a tragedy. Others cite it as a form of dark humor, or comedic death.
Thought?
Never really thought much about it, but would make one great story modern day and would end up on the Jerry Springer show.
Meh I rather see it as a romance, but I could see the "comedy" in it.
Well none of us have ever or will ever see the original play, so we will never know for sure. Looking at the most highly regarded script would give you the best viewpoint on this. I couldn't make an opinion myself as I've been swayed by different interpretations of the story through film.

To be honest, I guess I never really involved myself with shit like that - I know the basics of it, the underage thing and the suicide/deaths and some shit from the runescape quest but honestly, I have never read nor seen it.

You should watch the Leonardo DiCaprio one from I believe 1996. They modernized it so instead of swords, they use guns.

Same reason you laugh when someone trips over a rock and you hear their pizza splat all over the floor.
Romeo And Juliet is just youtube.com/FailArmy summed up into one book... except the characters actually die rather than just being injured. It's funny, and people like to watch it. But from the character's perspective, its anything but funny.

I've seen the Leonardo one..it was terrible.
I honestly don't care what anyone else considers it. I view it as a love story so that's all that matters.
