So this might be kind of confusing but here is my question:

Can I stay anonymous and stay stealth at the same time?

Anonymous meaning nobody can track anything that I do back to me.
Stealth meaning keeping up a fake identity (static IP and keep cookies).

For example, can I run tails from a DVD + vmware from a flash drive and have a fake identity running inside of the vm that keeps its cookies and uses a dedicated vpn address (firefox or tor with the vpn as the exit node)?

Or would this leave me too vulnerable to be worth doing?

Better safe than sorry, when doing some things in life you're risking your freedom, and at that point taking a few extra precautions really pays off in the long run.

Basically, ^this^; nothing bad or illegal but why take chances.

you can do both....just keep ur anonymous details (like VPN, proxy or TOR exit addresses used) sync'ed with ur fake identity activities (emails, website visits, etc). but easier said than done.....gotta be worth the extra work keeping track of all.....
