'Who Posted?' added to Thread Options
Patrick Jane created a thread in the Suggestions and Ideas forum suggesting that Omniscient should implement a feature to see who has posted on a thread. For those unaware, if you click on the number of replies for a thread (picture reference here) you have the option of seeing who posted on the thread, as well as how many times. To make it easier on you, Omni has implemented it into the Thread Options labeling it "Who Posted" (do not worry, it is not hard to miss -- it is blue colored) and is located right next to the new feature that was added not too long ago, "View Your Posts". (Picture for reference) >>Source

Do Not Contact Staff Regarding Deal Disputes
Please, whatever you do, do not PM any staff member regarding your deal dispute. If you send a PM to staff or Omniscient, then expect your account to be closed. Please read the thread in the source link to familiarize yourself with the Deal Dispute rules. Thanks. >>Source

Make A Testimonial!
For those who have not created a testimonial thread, you can do so here. A testimonial thread is basically a thread in which you share a little bit about yourself and let the users of Hack Forums know how HF has influenced your life in a positive way. Whether it be how you made your current friends or made a lot of money, a testimonial is a great way to share a little about yourself. Not that a testimonial is not a feedback thread! If you would like your testimonial thread featured in the Notable Thread section of the HF News, you will now have that chance to get your thread featured! The next few editions, the user running Notable Threads will be adding testimonial threads approved and created the week of the next edition that will be posted. If your testimonial is not added, please do not get upset and we will be sure to add it to the next edition!

Want to get interviewed?
If you or someone you know is worthy of an interview, then please apply in the Interview Requests thread! You or your friend may have a chance to get with an interviewer and get your interview featured in the next edition of the Hack Forums news. How cool is that?

Creator of Lithium-Ion Battery Invents Battery That May Succeed It
University of Texas professor John B. Goodenough, once pioneered the battery nearly all of us use in our daily lives many decades go. This year, Goodenough and his team of researchers have created a completely new type of battery that they claim is low cost and much safer than current batteries on the market. The battery is made of sodium (or possibly lithium) coated glass, and to the satisfaction of many - rechargeable. The battery prototype will be capable of 1,200 complete charges, which blows the lithium-ion's charge capability out of the water. Not only will it last longer than a lithium-ion battery, but the glass battery will not end up short circuiting or burning over time like its current competitors do. In a statement published by the University of Texas, Goodenough claims that he believes the batteries can be used to store energy in solar and wind farms, and that his team wishes to mass produce the batteries once they are complete, as well as build them large-scale for other uses.

Google's AI Can Now Identify Cancers Faster Than Humans
Doctors in the pathology often have to make the ridiculously difficult decision of telling a patient they have cancer or not, and unfortunately, the answer may not always be correct, because humans make mistakes. Luckily, we have the technology to utilize something that makes mistakes only infrequently, in the form of AI, or artificial intelligence. Google, a large contributor to AI development, has used their Deep Learning AI to do a task that we may have never guessed could be applied to robots, and that is cancer diagnoses. When done manually, pathologists have to go through files over 10 gigapixels in size, magnified over 40 times. Combine the daunting task with time constraint and other variables, and you have a process that is both lengthy and possibly inaccurate. Google's plan with Deep Learning AI is to train it with a vast amount of these large images until it can correctly learn and identify cancers faster than humans - and so far, it is working. Deep Learning AI scored a whopping 89% accuracy on the diagnosis tests as opposed to a human put against it achieving 73% accuracy. Google claims the AI will not be a replacement for pathologists, but rather a supplement, or even a second opinion when diagnosing a patient for cancer, which could end up saving many lives.

Awesome Twitch Announcements
Curse was purchased last Summer by Twitch and is going to get a revamp. In the current state of Curse, those who use it will have a similar user interface that Discord has. On Curse you can text chat with friends as well as create servers to chat with other gamers, make calls (private or server based) just like Discord. In the future this client will revamp into a "Twitch Desktop App". It will serve the same purpose as it does now, but with the implementation of Twitch website features. Synced with your twitch account, you will have access to your Twitch whispers, friends, and activity sharing which allows your friends to see what stream you are watching at the current time. There will be an open beta for this client that is said to be set on March 16. Do not miss the opportunity! In addition to this, Twitch plans on becoming its own gaming store. Yes, you read that correctly. Sometime this spring, Twitch will be opening up a service where you can purchase games from the website where Twitch serves as the "middleman". Once the new Curse client is released, users will be able to download those purchased games (if it's PC compatible) straight from the client itself. You can read more about it on the Twitch blog, here. >>Source

CIA Finally Responds To WikiLeaks Information Dump
An official statement released by The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) states that the most possible reason for the recent Vault 7 data breach is someone that is a CIA contractor. As WikiLeaks announced that the files originated from CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI), located in Langley, Virginia, the files have been circulating amongst the former government contractors and hackers. With this point in mind, it is likely that one of them has provided the information to WikiLeaks. The CIA refused to comment on the authenticity of the leaked documents, although they did point out that that they were "aggressively collecting" foreign intelligence from overseas to protect America from threats such as terrorists and hostile nation states.

1Password Will Give You $100,000 If You Can Crack Its Vault
If you're interested in bug bounties then the bug bounty opportunity provided by the developer of 1Password, AgileBits, has released a bug bounty of $100,000 for anyone that can break into their vault and obtain a plain text file of "bad poetry." A similar bug bounty to this was released, with a mere $25,000 up for grabs. With the new bug bounty in place, it makes the $25,000 look like pocket change. The reason behind this large bug bounty is because AgileBits want to prove and demonstrate that their services are safe, taunting security researchers to find any vulnerabilities if they can. The bug bounty is hosted on Bugcrowd, a general platform crowdsourcing bug hunts, and this new bug bounty provided by AgileBits is the biggest bug bounty on there, as AgileBits wants to prove that they take security very seriously.

WikiLeaks and Tech Companies Join Hands to Fix Security Flaws Exploited by CIA
In a press conference, Julian Assange, founder and owner of WikiLeaks, announced that WikiLeaks will be teaming up with some big-name companies such as Google and Apple to work on fixing the vulnerabilities and exploits that were focused on from the Vault 7 data breach. This isn't the start, as companies such as Google, Apple and Linux Foundation and many more companies have already stepped up and fixed most vulnerabilities which the WikiLeaks documents talked about. In the same conference, Assange also accused the CIA of withholding information about various vulnerabilities, additionally adding a question of why the CIA hasn't come forward to these various tech companies that have security flaws to help defend everyone from its own weapons systems?
