So about two months ago, my girlfriends mom stopped paying the internet. As a result, the shit got disconnected. She told me she had no interest in having it reconnected. As a result, I became pretty pissed off. Considering that literally the only thing to do here is fuck around on the internet, rather it be watching movies or actually doing something productive like support for my hosting company, I was pretty pissed off. But, I discovered that since I flashed a custom rom on my girlfriends phone, it now had a hotspot that wasn't limited. She has boost. So before, with the boost rom, you would have a set number of data you could use with your normal monthly data. After that, your shit wasn't able to hotspot but you would still be able to use the data on the phone. Since flashing it, the hotspot thats within it no longer is limited. As a result, I ended up getting out my old Netgear router and started fucking with it. I ended up looking up the OpenWRT firmware if any and found one. I setup the router to extend the signal of the phone and I have since been pulling decent speeds and being able to use it on multiple devices. Best part is, I got the unlimited data package this month. So I will be able to use as much as I want (Up to 23GB then limited only during network congestion). So I'm back.
Short version: I found a way to unlimit a software limitation on a phones hotspot, connected the shit to a router running OpenWRT.
Speedtest:
Might not seem like much but when you go from having the phone constantly disconnect because of to many devices and not hardly getting anything over 10KB/s, you can appreciate the extra shit lmao.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Glad you got internet up and running man. And yeah some roms are great in helping unlimit the hotspot, however I would be careful in how much data you use, because boost will catch wind of it and then at that point they will blacklist the device or cancel the line, so you'll have to get a new one. This was a big problem back in the day. And I mean people who are using like 100gb +. But anyways man congrats! Nice job getting it running.
My internet always been real fast

Lmao. Gonna hook me up or what? I still can't get fucking LTE. Fucking rep redirected me to Samsungs Electronics Support to "verify" the phone has LTE abilities....catch is, she didn't even stay on the line. She was trying to get outta there lmao.

Selling those speeds should be illegal. Either way it's nice to see that you've upgraded it just a bit. It should be much more bearable now.
I'm currently using T-Mobile for my phone service and their speeds are around the 2-4 mbps mark. I personally think it's too slow most of the time.
I can't see how you can bear such slow speeds.
Anyways, good job getting it set up. 🤝

The speeds aren't really an issue. The main issue was not being able to use them lol. The phone I have for the hotspot would continuously drop the connections. I think the main speed issue is the fact that I can't get LTE to work on the hone. I believe it has to do with the APN settings but I can't even touch the damn settings lol. The APN Settings should help you, if you can get access to them.
I used to own a One Plus 2 (Android - Oxygen OS) and I had to mess with the APN settings to get LTE to work on my T-Mobile network.

I'm pretty sure thats the issue too. I am assuming the SIM Card is locking the APN settings though. Any suggestions on getting around the shit being restricted? Any apps that use root access to fix this shit? lol

You could try to follow these steps. I've never had this issue so I can't personally comment on these steps, but many sources are listing these steps as a "work around."
Quote:"Make sure that you are in range of a known Wifi Network and follow the next steps:
Turn on Wifi and wait for your phone to connect to it
While connected to the Wifi Network, reboot the phone
As soon as the device restarts it will automatically connect to the previous Wifi network
Go to APN settings following the above-mentioned path and check if you are now able to view/edit
Alternative
Some users reported solving this problem through another simple method:
Turn Wifi ON
Go to Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators
A search will be executed and afterwards, the list will be populated with one or more Network Operators
Choose the Network Provider from where you bought the SIM card
Go to Access Point Names and add the new APN
Save the data and done.
Everything should work fine now!
Last resort
As a last resort, you should backup all the valuable data you might have stored on your phone (Contacts, Photos, Documents etc.) and perform a Hard Reset.
A Hard Reset will delete and reinstall the newest version of the system feature that handles the changing of APN data and you should have access to add or edit the Access Point Names without experiencing any errors."

Your phone also needs to be on the stock rom it came with when you purchased it.

Yeah the whole going back to stock thing isn't going to happen lol. I did attempt to do these things already though.

I went from dialup to satellite to a 3G hotspot - and I only got 3 gigs a month.
It wasn't until my freshman year in college that I got "real" internet.
Never do I want to hear people complain about their internet.
I feel like I used to live in the Stone Age.
Good thing I typed it so you had to read me complain instead of actually verbally complain which is all you never want to hear. ;)

I think that's the only way to fix the APN settings lock on your current device. 😟
boi that looks mighty slow
I guess free internet is free internet tho
