I did not see a thread about this already, sorry if there is.

As someone who was quite skeptical of whether or not the ban was going to actually make an impact I'm very curious if it did. To be honest I do kind of notice a lot of posts that would have been just easily answered or handled over discord but I'm not quite sure if those outweigh the amount of posts that discord would have produced by linking threads to each other.

This kind of information is very valuable so I'm not quite sure if Omni would just up and give it, but it's too interesting of a decision to not be curious.

Personally I don't know if it made a difference but I honestly hope it did, a few people were banned or closed because of it and it would be a shame if it was in vein.

Yeah but OP has an opinion and I think he deserves to voice it. I respect your opinion just as much as his, if not more, but just because you think the ban was in favor doesn't mean it was.

It's an interesting discussion point OP, Omni would obviously be happy to unban Discord if he thinks it was pointless but I'm sure he is observing activity at present to determine whether it was a the right move or not.

AFAIK, Discord is still allowed via private but advertising large discord groups isn't. Sharing threads with one another can be done on XMPP, Skype and plenty of other alternatives. Personally I think this is part of Omni's propaganda to move more people over to Hacker.im.  😏

No. Any mention of it is banned. Groups no longer have servers either.

I can't disclose private group forum information, but I can assure you that there is more on site activity as a result. I don't like off site communication in the first place and strongly support the decision to ban discord and other offsite advertising.

Bottom line is that Discord is a competitive site. Anyone with a somewhat reasonable mind should be able to agree with that.
If you cannot advertise a marketplace/hacking/ewhoring/crypto/other forum, why a Discord server with those topics?
