Transfer W10 installation to new SSD disk

Hi guys,

I just ordered myself a new SSD disk and have some questions i was hoping you could help me with.

1. How can i "transfer" my current Windows installation from my current HDD to the new SSD without any problems?
2. If i want to encrypt the disk, is this something i do with Veracrypt before the windows installation or after?

Thanks!

To answer your first question there are a ton of free software out there (think Samsung makes a program called Magician) that will take all your files or files that you pick and move them onto your SSD for you. For me, (this is just a personal thing) I like to move all my data off the hard drive and start from scratch with a clean Windows install on the SSD and then add the hard drive as bulk storage, but you can still achieve this using software.

There are different scenarios with the same results.

- If you wanna reinstall just the OS, should activate with no problem.

- If you want to migrate all your files, you need a migration software, should activate with no problem as well.

Regarding encryption, you can do it after installation.

To be on the safe side with Windows reactivation, tie the activation with your e-mail.

Thanks, i'll check it out!

1. I assume the new SSD can't be encrypted while its's being used? So i have to encrypt it from my current OS?
2. I need to reactivate Windows after migrating the data? If so, i guess it's sufficient with the license key?
First: Can be done while in use within the OS:

Second: Activation is done automatically over the internet, if no issue is found:

Thanks for the help!
