Is it Possible to Find File Format in Steganography Hiding???

Hi, I was messing around with cryptography and tried out steganography hiding but noticed a problem with figuring out hidden file's format for example .pdf, .doc, or .exe. If the hidden file is for example a file format .SKB which is Google SketchUp backup file and the person who is trying to get the hidden file and knows the password doesn't know it is a .SKB file and will have to guess all file formats.
That is inefficient and time consuming, is their a way to figure out what the hidden file's file format is without guessing?
Here is a video I made that might explain it better:

Thank you in advance!
Anyone know if this is possible?

Did I post this in the wrong forum page? If so where should I post this questing because no one is replying.
i guess you could try looking for the Magic number.

Can you please elaborate I have been researching about this magic number programming but don't know if it is even possible to use that to find hidden file extension. Their must be a way to figure this out.
This magic number would work to find the file extension but not hidden file within.
most of the files have an identifier at the first bytes (MZ for exe, %PDF for pdf files , ‰PNG for png pictures ... ) .
you just have to look for them

Yes that is true for the file that you already have, I am talking about a hidden file withing a .jpg image but figured it out, you can delete the file extension and then use hex editor to identify the hidden file format thank you!

extract the hidden file form the image and look for identifiers in it . if the identifier is removed it won't work properly, because it used by programs to identify that file.
