I just finished building a computer with a gtx960. It works when i opened it and started downloading! but i realized the Gtx960 was not reconigized because i didnt plug in the PCIe cable so i did the gtx 960 is a 8pin and i used a 6 and it didnt work. So i pluged in the 8pined cable from my motherboard onto the GPU and the 6pin PCIe into the motherboard i didnt open it because the 8Pin from my motherboard wouldnt go in. So i repluged everything and now my PC would run but would show anything.
DID I FRIED MY MOTHERBOARD? |

So, let me get this straight.
You plugged the 960 into the motherboard, but forgot the power connector. So you grabbed the 8-pin that was plugged in your motherboard, and tried plugging it in to the GPU? You said your PC worked but the 960 wasn't recognized? First of all, plug the 8-pin back where you found it. That's your CPU power. Also probably why your PC runs, but doesn't really do anything. Generally, if your PSU doesn't have the right connectors for your card, it means that the PSU won't provide enough power to the card. I am not sure if this was asked yet, but which country are you buying in? With that we can recommend a new PSU. Dude you should really read up on this kind of stuff, before you just plug and play. You can really mess something up. I've fucked up a lot of computer hardware doing that. I will say it helped me learn a lot. But I started at the age of 11, and am now 18. 7 whole years of constant fuckery and I'm finally pretty amazing with these things. Lot of $ burnt though. So be careful and always do your research first. Trust me when I say your problem is 99% chance documented with a fix somewhere on google. Use your mobile phone if you have to. I've fucked up a lot of computers and had to scroll through my phone for hours and i mean 4-8 hours of constant shit before I'd finally fix them. Save yourself the headache.
