Please is there any version of Microsoft edge browser that is compatible with Win 8.1, i am only seeing for Win10 i am using Win8.1.

Only for Win 10 (Home, Pro , S etc) but honestly I hate it, I prefer google chrome

You can't, maybe in the future, but not right now.

Only way would be to install in on VM, which you probably wouldn't like to do, because it is not effective...

Hmm... M$ cheated. They created some new network functions in the core of Windows 10and then used them function in their browser. While chrome and FF and the rest use the other functions.

And this genuinely is unfortunate, particularly in the case of Edge. IE11, because of that, is going to become an issue for web developers if people hold onto pre-Win10 machines. Thankfully IE11 and Edge, combined, only makeup ~5% of all web traffic. But as IE11 is no longer being actively developed, and is on maintain-only, it'll be a pain in any web developer's ass until its web traffic dips low enough to justify ignoring.
