thanks :)
Can you explain how these rankings were determined?
I'm quite curious how this list was compiled, I have the same question as webdev77, where did you get this list from?
I've tried a few AV's as well and ESET Nod32 stood out the most for me.

So can you link to where you took this from or explain why one is better than another?
This just looks like an opinion thread to me, no evidence to back up why each AV is rated where is rated. Can i see what type of research you did for these AVs? Are you apart of AMTSO? Id like to see your reasoning behind these AM ratings.
Been using ESET for years, where did this list come from?
I don't really post that often in the WHH section anymore, however when I see posts like this, I can't really ignore it. Honestly, I feel like this list is wrong and really shouldn't be followed. For example, NOD32 AntiVirus is not #12 in 2018. If you have a source, I would greatly like to see this source.

EDIT: I just noticed Panda's free version is listed as better than their paid? That makes no sense at all :/.
nothing

Comodo is a pretty solid brand. Never used their AV personally but I do know their firewalls are well known and reliable.

To OP, I have to agree with some others on here. How did you make this list? Is there any order to the AVs you posted? It just seems a bit random and mixed.

As a general statement, I also want to say that almost nothing is truly "free". You may be opening yourself to spyware, ads, mailing lists, and more. In addition, some of these AVs aren't necessarily reliable/of good quality so I'd advise research and caution when using some of these AVs.

Edit: If others can afford it, I'd advise they do their research and go get a paid AV. There is nothing like having that extra protection from active threats.
My hat used to be somewhere along the border of being grey but over the past few years, I realized my calling is to learn and help others out in ways that I can ethically. Learn as much as you can, experience, grow, educate, and throw yourself in uncomfortable situations.

Oh look, it's that thread, AGAIN.
Fiat justitia ruat cælum

My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
I actually remember a thread like this that occurred what, like 3 or 4 years ago? Maybe longer? I don't remember what the list was though, I remember though that AVG was listed as #1 <_<.
nothing
