Monitor No HDMI Signal

Just bought the Asus VG248QE and I tried to hook it up to my computer using HDMI. It keeps saying no HDMI signal, so I tried it with my same computer using DVI. I also tried connecting the monitor to my xbox using HDMI, and that worked. It just keeps saying no signal for my computer.

Any ideas?

Where are you plugging the cable into on the PC?

You should be connecting to the graphics card not the motherboard.
I got a prebuilt PC and I'm plugging it into the HDMI port. I assume it is the graphics card.

Obviously it’s not the exact same as yours but it should be the connecting in the green box, not the red box.

Maybe the cord is faulty?
It isn't. I tried another HDMI cord that worked with my xbox, but that also didn't work.

I just realized there was a different HDMI port and I plugged it into that and it worked. Can't believe I didn't see that before. Just wondering, though, how come they give you an HDMI port connected to the motherboard if it doesn't work? What is it used for?

It depends on what motherboard and CPU you have, some CPU’s have integrated graphics chips, some motherboards have integrated graphics, some the only graphics is from a dedicated graphics card.

If you have graphics on either the CPU or motherboard and you have a dedicated graphics card the CPU/motherboard graphics is disabled by default.
