CPU overheats when running antivirus

Recently I uninstalled Free Kaspersky AV because if I ran a full scan once a week the CPU goes to a 100%, the fan goes nuts but the computer doesn't shut down. I tried BitDefender and same problem, I don't do anything besides check my email and finish my homework for my classes. I haven't installed any 3rd party apps besides PopcornTime to watch free movies. Other than that, I don't know what's going on. I'm using Windows Defender, Malwarebytes and CCleaner.
Please help thanks
OP you might need to clean your case. However a CPU will run close to max while doing a virus scan. Using the background scan option might solve this issue. It runs the scan at a lower priority.

Canned air = good.
Duster = bad.

You don’t want to introduce any static electricity into the case or components.

While most components are a lot safer against ESD than they used to be, why risk it.

My bad. Thanks for bringing that up

Ok but I have a laptop, is there a safe way to open it? I have a surface laptop

Honestly not sure, don't have much exp with them.
What CPU do you have exactly? If you have a 'weak-ish' CPU then that would probably be why.
Processor: Intel Core i7-7660U
I have the surface laptop

Right. I wouldn't say it's necessarily uncommon for CPU to be at 100% or near it when running anti-virus.

Soooooo what should I do?
Hello there !

This is pretty normal that your cpu runs at 100% for scanning.

Do you have an idea about the temp of your CPU when your are running a scan on your computer ?
If you don't, download Speccy and then post here.

Speccy is unreliable for checking temps, use HWMonitor, Aida64 or RealTemp.

Didn't know, thanks for those tools 🙂
