Bump Stock Ban

The Trump administration has officially banned Bump stocks

ATF stated that bump stocks are a gun accessory or firearm part and are not subject to federal regulation but Donald Trump called on the Justice department to ban the device anyway.

If you have a bump stock you have 90 days to either destroy it or turn it in to ATF.

Share your thoughts and opinions on it.

What I find interesting is there is Trump supporters on social media now saying "I don't need a bump stock, I don't own a bump stock so it doesn't matter" but the reality is if Obama would have passed this there would be tremendous outrage. This is like saying "I don't need a Ruger, I don't own a Ruger so ban it" "I don't need a trigger upgrade, I don't have a trigger upgrade so ban it"
Bump fire is the act of using the recoil of a semi-automatic firearm to fire shots in rapid succession, which simulates the rate of fire of a fully automatic firearm.

This solves nothing if someone wants to kill someone.
Taking away guns won't stop killings either. They will be smuggled in here just like drugs or handmade.
There's nothing anybody can do to stop the violence. So what does this actually accomplish?

Evil wins no matter what.
I like it. I’m Anti Trump but pro gun. I own ARs but only because everyone else does too.

If I was told ARs are banned, I would surrender it with no problem. The only guns people need is a handgun for protection, rifle for hunting and shotgun for both.

Well there is a flaw with your statement.

Is the same as

Both are used for hunting. Both fire the exact same rounds. Both fire semi-auto.

Very and I mean VERY few people hunt with 223/556 AR. Thats not even legal in some states.

308 is common.

I don't see the flaw.

So where is the facts that would back up that statement?

.308 is the same exact argument I have.

You say you don't believe anyone needs a AR to hunt but then reference to only needing a rifle. Although, a rifle can shoot the exact same ammunition as an AR at pretty much the same rate.

Thats an AR chambered in .308.
you can bump fire with out a bump stock all you need is a finger and semi auto rifle or pistol

Ok, when people say AR, they generally mean assault style weapons which are most commonly chambered in 223/556 like real assault rifles.

The only advantage of an AR chambered in .308 is higher rate of fire and customization. Therefore its not needed.

The fact of the matter is this.

First they ban bump stocks, then they are pushing for a nation wide ban on high capacity magazines, what is next? are they going to push for a ban of RRS's now because it increases accuracy?.

That is how it starts, they ban 1 thing after another and then before you know it guns are banned all together. Your right has vanished.

Any rifle is an assault rifle if it is used with bad intent. So the fact that you would surrender your "AR" with no problem is ridiculous.

Are you going to support a ban of semi-auto and pump shot guns? Got to ban buckshot because its too dangerous 00 Buckshot has 8 pellets in 1 shot, pair that with a pump shotgun or a semi auto shotgun with or without an extension tube that is pretty dangerous for a large crowd if used with bad intent. But yet 99.9% of the time buckshot is used with non bad intent.

People with his mindset only think about the now. They aren't concerned with their rights nor the future of them or their country.

The thing is gun laws are different in all states. Look at Cali, NY and the city of Philadelphia where high capacity mags have been banned since before the Obama administration.

I just don't see why people are so attached to their non concealable guns. Like I said, I'm very pro gun but I'm also a realist.

I don't really see how banning bump stocks would make life better for the US citizen rather than just 1) score easy political points and 2) plot the path for further banning of guns and accessories? Also, vast majority of murders in the US are with handguns? Why are rifles the gun type under attack?
The essential cause of the stability of our currency was to be sought for in our concentration camps. The currency remains stable when the speculators are put under lock and key.

1. Mass shootings are generally committed with an AR rifle.

2. The Las Vegas shooting which is now the worst in US history was carried out an AR with a bump stock.

if fully automatic weapons aren't legal a mod to attempt making a weapon fully automatic should be banned as well

With higher ground on a huge target, the Vegas shooting would have been massive regardless of having a bump stock or not. You could literally have one in each hand mag dumping with no fucks given since you're more than likely going to hit something from his position. Bump stocks themselves can have issues actually getting them to work properly anyway, and require both hands to use, Something like a lightening link or even a drop in auto sear, actually making the gun full auto instead of trying to mimic it like a bump stock, would be a better option. Specs for both of those can be found online and could be made out of some scrap metal and would require just some basic tools like a saw, drill, and a file.

In a lot of states it's actually legal to own a full auto gun, it's just very expensive and hard to do. Buying the lower or either of the parts I mentioned above costs $10,000+ and has the normal restrictions (Not a felon, US resident, etc). It is of course already illegal to convert a standard semi auto rifle to full auto, but the jail time for that is the least of your worries if you plan on killing someone with it.
