is cryptic vpn a virus ?

i have just got Cryptic VPN and surprisingly it detected as a virus! uploaded to VT and yeah here I'm 17/65! is it because people use it for malicious use 'RAT' or they are behind some botnet or what is going on? I feel kinda ripped off! is there anyone has an answer to this detections? can't even download it ! you have to turn off your browser firewall and your AV on your computer to download it? what is that ??
Cryptic VPN is certainly NOT a virus.

It's fine if it shows some detection on VT because many "hackers" use it probably for RAT.

if you're still not sure run it in sandboxie and some other malware analysis tools and check if it's really infected. or let someone scan it for you.

what you can do to run it?
- set an exception rule in your anti-virus software to exclude the file from being scanned/removed/etc..

I doubt it's backdoored or anything. you should be fine.  🙂

yes, but 17 Detections is way too much dw ! i have contacted them and yeah the answer all the same! false positive! thanks for your feedback!
false positive, due to being a good vpn.

thanks mate for your feedback! it's only quite way too many detections is kinda weird! put real doubt!
Detections don't mean anything, it has been trusted for years. We'd know by now if its a virus and the service would've been shut down.

I don't know about that, but the new Windows installer is being detected as a Trojan sins 11-28-2018. My paranoia is to high to trust this.

I would suggest to download de openvpn config and use de open source openvpn client for this.

The Dev's of crypticvpn need to look into this. Whatever you do, do not trust the CrypticVPN windows installer 😠
I gues you get what you pay for 🤐 😧 🤣 👍
It's most likely because alot of people use Cryptic VPN as a host for there malware. Pointing there malcious traffic to the servers etc.

If that was the case the domain+ip of crypticvpn should be blocked for "distributing" malware not the installer.exe. And why is it being detected sins 11-28-2018 and not before? This VPN solution is around for a while now and I had never had this detection on the installer.exe. Could someone of CrypticVPN provide more info regarding this?
You have to be teakin to think this still

I understand your concern and unfortunately the CrypticVPN client has been flagged as a false positive for a while, because the previous coder used some code in the updater that is also used in some malware he probably wrote or copied. While the code itself is harmless, anti-virus will flag it because it's code that's also in malware.

I am currently working on a new client but I'm the sole developer and I'm in college while also running this company, so it's taking some time. I hope you understand.

If you really don't trust the client, you can also download the open-source OpenVPN client and connect to CrypticVPN through there!

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
