My application for Computing Development
Username: Disease Profile Link: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...uid=222862 Age: 30 Timezone: Eastern Past Contributions: I've been an active contributor to the various coding and web forums here on HF over the past 8 years; in fact, two-thirds of all of my posts are in the coding and web forums. Over the years I've led various projects here on HF, encouraging involvement in open source, and pushing other developers to grow their skillsets. I've mentored a few individuals who I know have gone on to work in the web development space professionally. And in general, I've helped countless people through answering questions, encouraging better development techniques, and focusing on teaching how to think and learn like a programmer, versus just seeking the immediate answer without understanding the solution. Explain in detail your interest in this division: I'm really on here on HF for the coding and web sections. My motivation is teaching, and when I can do that, I am at my most active. The unfortunate fact, though, is that the coding and web sections are dramatically slower than they once were. What I am looking for in this division are others that share my passion. People I can engage in conversations with. And perhaps help along the way too. Whats past experience do you have to offer?: I'm a Full-Stack Engineer by trade (professional web development). And it's a hobby I am still, to this day, passionate about. I've been writing code in some manner or another since I was thirteen years old. Throughout the years I've volunteered in teaching roles at local schools and in various meetups. Aside from my day job, I've freelanced on the side in various IT capacities for companies ranging from the smallest mom and pop shop to automotive dealership groups. Are you Interested in learning or helping others to learn more: Absolutely both. As I mentioned, I love to teach. So first and foremost that'd be my answer. But I am always learning something. I spend a stupid amount of money every month on learning subscriptions and books... like, it's legitimately more than any sane person should spend each month. So I'd love to learn from others in the group and repay that in kind by teaching subjects I am knowledgeable on. I am a firm believer in always learning. Once you stop that, you become complacent. And in my industry, complacency makes you ancient history in no time at all. Why do you want to Join Samaritans: As I mentioned, it bums me out that the sections on HF I care about the most are slower than I've ever seen them. There's just not as much going on to keep me engaged in this community. I'm looking to the Samaritans to keep me engaged by providing more outlets for conversation and creativity. A couple of your divisions speak to my interests, and I'd enjoy joining up to chat with others about those topics. Give us one primary reason on whose basis we should accept you: I am probably one of the most experienced developers here on HF. And you'll be hard pressed to find someone who enjoys teaching as much as I do. I'm not a shit poster, and you'll never see me put out a low-quality post. I'll represent your group well, churn out solid content, and be active as long as there's content worth engaging in. Any other disclosure you want to inform us of: I'm not group hopper, nor am I looking to just collect another userbar. I wouldn't apply if I didn't believe I wouldn't be a good fit in your group or if I didn't believe I could remain active. I've been waiting to see recruitment where there's a focus within the group for programming. I'm glad I saw this thread, and hope to speak with you all further. <Disease />

My application for [Finance Division] Application
Username: TheBanker Profile Link: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=2071781 Age: 32 Timezone: Eastern Past Contributions: The bulk of my contributions or threads can be found in the Money and Crypto forums. I've shared investment advise before and tried to steer people in the right direction. One thread that comes to mind is here. In addition, for what it is worth, I provide a profession and legit currency exchange service that I am ramping up for bigger things. Explain in detail your interest in this division: The interest in this division is driven by my (irl) career experience. I currently work for one of the largest financial institutions here in the US. For a living, I actually work as a banker and I help clients with their finances. So talking about money, debt, investments, trading, etc are all areas of expertise for me. I pride myself in being able to answer unique questions with catered solutions for each persons need or inquiry. Also, crypto is a big part of my life (and portfolio lol) and I am very knowledgeable about the technology and potential of what it can become. Sadly, I can't talk to clients about Bitcoin or crypto so I enjoy coming here to speak with others about it and share my knowledge. Currently, I actively trade when opportunity presents itself for a swing. Whats past experience do you have to offer?: Aside from my current type of work I'm involved in, I used to day trade the e-mini s&p 500 and the japan e-mini nikkei 225 futures. So I have "real" trading experience that I can share with others. In addition, I had started my own small business when I was in college that was centered around poker. When the poker craze blew up when Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker I took advantage of an opportunity. Everyone was wanting to play Texas Hold'em so restaurants and sports bars started having free to play games with house cash as prizes. I ended up approaching owners to provide my services to run their tournaments. This later evolved into poker being my life. For 9 years I dealt cash games, ran cash games, and played for a living. Are you Interested in learning or helping others to learn more: Absolutely! Both! I've always enjoyed sharing what I know. "Leading a horse to water" is kind of the motto in my line of work. I try and explain complex things in a more simplistic way so everyone can understand it. This is something I'd really enjoy doing and would love to contribute to this crew. I also enjoy learning about new things. Knowledge is power. Why do you want to Join Samaritans: I think the prestige of the Samaritans is what attracts me to this group. I've applied in the past to other groups and been invited before. But I have yet to come across a quality group that provides a mature audience. I am itching to be apart of a HQ crew where I know I can share my expertise and knowledge with others. Give us one primary reason on whose basis we should accept you: If I get an invite you would have let in someone that is extremely knowledgeable in the broad, ever changing world of finance. Any other disclosure you want to inform us of: Nope! Thank you for considering my application!

My application for [Social Division] Application
Username: Sour Blood Profile Link: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile Age: 27 Timezone: Eastern Past Contributions: While my time here has been short, I have donated quite a bit of bytes away. (not for rep) Besides that, I consider my HQ postings to be contributing to the overall health of the forum. Explain in detail your interest in this division: My interest in this division is to simply reach out to more people. I enjoy interacting with people and even more so lending helpful advice, whatever the case may be. In real life I have what feels like countless hours of volunteer work as a social therapist to campus students as well as the Veterans Help Line. (suicide prevention help line) Are you Interested in learning or helping others to learn more: Of course! Within the subjects I feel most confident in, sure. Why do you want to Join Samaritans: I would like to be accepted into what I feel is one of if not the most active crews that I've seen around Hackforums thus far. I would love to contribute to the future growth and prosperity (even if only by social) of the crew and uphold the integrity and meaningfulness the crew brings to the forums. Give us one primary reason on whose basis we should accept you: High quality, I assure you all my posts will remain that of the status of the crew itself, high quality. Any other disclosure you want to inform us of: No and thank you for considering my application!
My application for Finance and Networking Application
Username: Scaletta Profile Link: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=4119623 Age: For privacy and security against possible DOXing attempts I can send this field via PM. Timezone: Protection from Doxing attempt Past Contributions: Very few contributions at the moment due to being new here but have helped out wherever possible and can continue to do so if provided with the opportunity. Explain in detail your interest in this division: The reason for picking multiple divisions is simply that i have something to offer in one division while I would love to learn and share with others in the other division. For the past 6 years now I've been involved in various financial ventures and projects. Due to which I have come across a lot of different scenarios and gained plenty of experience. Here is a quick shortlist:
Whats past experience do you have to offer?:
Are you Interested in learning or helping others to learn more: Of Course. Whatever I am learning on HF is shared knowledge from others. I won't be benefiting if it was not for others generosity. Its only right that I continue the good deed. Why do you want to Join Samaritans: Its an opportunity to meet new people, learn and mentor other people. A chance to have long-lasting relationships during my time here on HF Give us one primary reason on whose basis we should accept you: Anyone who seems to be capable of offering value to your group should be considered and at least experimented/put on probation. Truth be told you can not tell the difference between a high quality group member from a forum member. Someone can be a very active member on the board but does not get along with the group. Any other disclosure you want to inform us of: Samaritans does sound like an interesting group to join but I would appreciate an invite if only the group is truly diverse. People from different backgrounds, interests and experience. I've been in groups before and some groups are too zombie like or autopilot. Differences allow discussions and a chance to grow as a person.

My application for Computing Development
Username: Intel Profile Link: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=1512567 Age: 19 Timezone: MST (UTC-7) Past contributions: I try to help users around here. I'm a full time CS major at university so a lot of my contributions have been offline with my peers. Explain in detail your interest in this division: I want to teach this community about the beautiful and efficient programming language Elixir. Whats past experience do you have to offer?: I used to write Minecraft hacks, but I got bored of that and would rather not go back into game hacking. I can offer a lot of help in Java, C++, Python, and a few others. I'm also a big fan of data science, so if any needs help with linear algebra or statistics, I can make time to assist. I'd prefer to be an Elixir language evangelist. It's probably the most underrated programming language for youngsters and other programming newbies. Elixir is also extremely powerful and this community needs to learn about it. Are you interested in learning or helping others to learn more: Of course! I love helping people learn, computer science takes time. Why do you want to join Samaritans: I want to be part of a group of like-minded individuals. I see Samaritans as a vector of promoting my Elixir evangelism and sharing my CS knowledge of algorithms and data structures. Give us one primary reason on whose basis we should accept you: I will help you guys code, in the group, and represent the CS side of the group with great mentorship and written tutorials here on HF. Any other disclosure you want to inform us of: I was away from HackForums for approx. 2 years. I went through a phase of low qualities. I do not believe that such LQ posting represents who I am today.

Explain in detail your interest in this division: I don't have many abilities, but one thing I can do, help people and care for them, which is why I want to join this division in particular. Whats past experience do you have to offer?: As a young man, I still have a lot to learn, nevertheless, I have helped several people to overcome their problems throughout my life. Are you Interested in learning or helping others to learn more: Of course, that's the main reason I have to join this group. Why do you want to Join Samaritans: A month ago, I had some personal problems that I needed to take care of.
