Introduction
I've been meaning to do one of these for a long, long time and figured 20,000 posts would be a perfect milestone on which to write my feedback. I'll warn you now that I smoked a pretty nice joint before I started this so I may very well go on, and on, and on.

Here's what I will be covering in the up-and-coming novel thread. I may make amends and add or take away things as I go on. God only knows, I'm pretty baked so the possibilities are endless. There's still a chance that this could turn into an article about penguin's sleep schedules by the time I have finished. Anyway, here goes:

My Early Days on Hackforums

I remember my early days here very well and each time I think back I cringe and I cringe hard. I think my first username was Rockloud and I had come here after getting my Facebook hacked by a guy I am actually very good friends with till this day. I was fascinated by the whole scene and back then  I saw Ub3rs as hacking gods. I really didn't understand much of what was going on and I really wanted to fit in, to be looked up to and to stand out.

After a short time sat back watching how things worked I figured that sharing tools seemed to help people gain reputation (it was a BIG thing back then and meant a hell of a lot here) so stupidly, I uploaded one of the tools I had been using and shared it here. The tool in question was an MSN Multi Tool. I can't remember the coder but it turned out that he was a member here and wasn't happy with my sharing his cracked products.

I distinctly remember the moment my heart fell out of my mouth as all the hate started flooding in. I was flapping about like crazy, asking people how I could close it while explaining futily that I was just trying to contribute. Ah, to be a noob.

It wasn't long before I upgraded to l33t. I was sick of the fact that I could only post 10 times in the lounge as I really had the bug by now and with little computer knowledge under my belt there wasn't really anywhere else to post. Yes, hands up, I was a lounge whore and stayed that way for a while until I discovered RATs.

To cover my own white, hairy arse, I won't go too much into this aspect of my journey but through RATs I learned quite a lot of different things and began to grow as a user and to learn as I posted more and more in different sections offering my help and asking for advice. I had finally escaped the clutches of the Lounge and was arming myself with a whole new skillset. The forum had really grown on me and I was beginning to feel as if I had grown on the forum. It gave me a real love for Hackforums and one I still have to this day.

Groups I Have been in

I have chosen to write a little about Respawn first as it's the first group I was in and I was bowled over when I recieved an invitation. I still see joining my first group as quite a big milestone and really enjoyed being a part of a group of like-minded gamers and loved rocking the userbar.

Respawn disbanded and I soon became a part of Skill. Not much to say on the group as it was very similar to Respawn. I just didn't feel it was as good (maybe because it wasn't the first group I was in and it had a lot more members).

The Empire was a real treat to be in.  It's one of the few groups I have been in that managed to have a lot of members while keeping internal drama down to a minimum. Had some great laughs in The Empire sub-forum and made some great friends along the way. I still wonder to this day whatever happened to Tibit. If someone could refresh my memory that would be awesome.

To be honest, I never enjoyed the Echo for the short time I was in it. The SF was full of LQ threads and posts and just felt like a bit of a shit show. I left shortly after joining and never looked back, or wanted back in.

I was going to save the best for last, but for reasons that will soon become clear, I will write a little about 143 here.

143 was a group I looked up to since I very first started on Hackforums. They were a very close and very small group of members that helped people out with their personal problems with help threads in Innuendo and support through private messages and PMs.

I remember making a post one day on a thread saying that I would love to be in 143. I got a reply shortly after from Daisy (who was the owner) saying that I never knew who was watching me. A few days later, I was invited into this close circle and was surrounded by users I had really looked up to and was made to feel really welcome.

I think at the time 143 had about 15 members and we all got on so well it was unreal. People were hand-picked based on who they thought would gel with the current members. All new members were brought in under a vote. If the vote wasn't uniminous, then the user simply never got in. I still talk to many of the old 143 members on Facebook. The friendships formed in that group were strong and real.

While in 143 I offered myself up as someone to talk to if anyone had an issue in life that was getting them down. My PM box was always full to the brim with people to help. I was extremely busy but I never minded one bit. I was just so happy to help those that needed help.

I will never forget 143, or the people that were in it.

Phoenix was a bitter/sweet pill for me to swallow as it was the result of 143 being sold up to Tibit. I was happy that it seemed the group was going to go in the right direction but I couldn't have been further from the truth. From the days of old with exclusivity and close friendships, the Phoenix userbar became a clitoris userbar, every cunt had one. Tibit let more and more people into Phoenix and it eventually just became another lounge group. The day I realised this was a very sad day for me.

Long live 143

Fun fact: It was me who came up with the name "Phoenix". My idea being 143 rising from the ashes.

My Opinions on the Recent Changes

Being a member here for 9 years, I have seen quite a few changes but none quite so drastic as the recent complete Hackforums overhaul. I'm not going to lie and say I loved everything from the off. In fact, the changes came as quite a bit of a shock. I lost over 2.5k reputation in the process and if I'm being honest, I was wounded about this because it had taken a lot of hard work and time to build it (I think I only had one negative reputation too).

That being said, I soon got used to the changes and since they came into place I have slowly come to love them. The Bytes system - which I hated at first - has become one of my firm favourites on the long list of changes, especially when combined with the Bytes games (Slots addict, checking in).

It has fast become clear that these changes were vital to the forum and I really can't wait to see what's going to roll out in the future. I'm watching the Game with a close eye and baited breath, I know it's going to be BIG and I can't wait.

Aside from the Bytes and the Game I am really happy with the new vouching policy. For those that weren't here prior to the overhaul - the Marketplace was awash with buddy vouches from people who had never even purchased the product speaking about how great it was. It's great that these are finally a thing of the past and the Marketplace is a much better place because of it.

How Hackforums has Changed me as a Person

Since I joined these boards I have learned so much about a lot of things that I wouldn't have otherwise learned. I have taken up CPA, account cracking and selling, SEO and more recently, coding (I am learning PHP. After starting and stopping a handful of different languages I feel I have finally stuck to one). Without Hackforums I would never have even considered any of these and I have each and every member that makes up HF to thank for that, so thank you.

Shoutouts

I couldn't do a feedback thread without adding a few shoutouts to the people that have helped me get where I am today. These are in no particular order and the list isn't necessarily comprehensive as I'm bound to forget a few.

Stoke:  One of my oldest mates here. We seem to have fell out of contact a bit lately but we still message each other every now and again. Always had a laugh with this dude and I hope you're still around the boards for a long time to come.

Flavoral: Not known you for long but know we're going to be mates for a long time to come. We clicked fast and you're basically a younger me. Keep on rockin'.

Anima: Known you for quite a while now and we're always talking on Facebook. Appreciate you helping me out when I needed it a while back and looking forward to setting up a project with you in the future.

Omniscient: I'd just like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for Hackforums and all the work you put into it. Without this I would never have learned half of the stuff I have and you've made a big difference to a lot of people. Keep up the great work and the steller savagery.

666 (hackingdoge): You know why!! 🤝 🤝 🤝 🎉

james2901: Hackforums' newest member at the time of writing this. Welcome to the forums and I hope you get as much out of it as I have.

All the Members of 143: To Freddy Kruegar, Eternal., Sjelskar, Krave, Sinister and all others. Thanks a lot for voting me in and allowing me to experience what it was like to be a part of 143. 143 you all.

My Goals

My goals are to keep knuckling down and learning PHP. I then want to learn other web languages such as Javascript and become an AIO web designer/developer. I also hope to one day get Vendor to further my on-site services and endeavours. I'm happy with my progress and hopefully you will one day see me offering my servies as a web dev.

As far as Hackforums goes, the Red Lions is probably my end-goal but my next milestone is the 24k posts award.

A Last Word

At this final point I would like to reach out to the newer members. Don't be like I was and don't worry about us Ub3rs, most of us don't bite. Take it easy, be yourself, she quality content and help out where ever you are able. In 9 years time you could very well be writing a feedback thread of your own.

And to all - I look forward to seeing you all around in the future.

Very good progress thread that is a big number. Congrats.
Nice read mate! Many more years to come. It's nice to see how old members grow along with the community this forum has created.
I remember you from The Empire as well as 143. Good bunch of people in those groups. Dylan moved on and still does infosec work, he's on twitter/social media. I still wonder what Seth is up to these days, they were both real good dudes to me during those days.

Edit: Aren't you the older guy who always smoked a shit ton of weed? Or am I thinking of someone else lmao.
