I've only recently noticed this, maybe it got added today but now I see a purple button that scrolls to the first post on each thread. I find it irritating while browsing, is there an option to disable it?

It's always been there. We just changed the icon from double right arrows to that new one.

I think it looks a lot better, it invites me to actually click it to directly go to the first unread post, very small but very nice change.
And it looks modern aswell, fits the theme tho.
The icon used makes more sense aswell then the arrows.

And to OP, give it few days or weeks you will get used to it.

TBH I prefer the new icon bc it is easier to use on mobile.
