I usually reset my PC once or twice a year. Not because of viruses necessarily, but just for a clean PC.
Nothing seems to be working now after I reset it last night. Every app crashes including the settings which I was trying to just do another restore. It won’t let me.
I tried running SFC (system file checker) but it says it’s unable to fix the corrupt files it found. I’m kind of stuck now since I can’t use my PC at all. Any tips?
Insert a windows 10 disc or download from usb and reinstall windows?

Not until late tonight unfortunately. My roommate has a MacBook but he doesn’t get home for another 12 hours.
Anything I can try in the meantime? I gotta get work done lol.

There might be something else but I'm no expert and when I had this issue this worked for me.
What you can do is check craigslist offer up and other apps where people sell stuff locally someone might be selling a windows 10 disc near you.

I might just go pick up my roommates laptop from his job.
What a bad way to start the day. Thanks for your help though dude. I really appreciate it.

I hope your day get's better as it passes by.
I'd suggest, like other members already did, an installation disc or USB (bootable).
Bastille should be able to help you out or guide you in the right way. He's a real IT guy in my opinion.

Thanks man. I just disabled “fast startup” and currently waiting for it to reboot. Taking FOREVER with that disabled. It was mentioned this might help so let’s see. Have you experienced this before, Bastille ?

Did you already checked your BIOS? Like which partition it's starting up from, if so. Check further.
Check which programs are default in start up. I thought it went like this.
Go to: Start --> Type "msconfig" and press 'Enter'. Check the programs that are ran with the 'start up'. You can enable and disable programs and/or services there.

It’s a fresh OS install so there’s nothing in the start up items at the moment. The last step I tried didn’t work either.
Looks like I gotta pick up the laptop and download Windows 10 to a usb. I’ll look up a few other options for a bit longer but it seems like something isn’t allowing any apps to open.
I can’t open IE to update drivers. And I can’t open settings to do another restore. I can get into the CP and CMD though.
The start menu doesn’t seem to work either.

Press CTRL + ALT + ESC and see if there are some 'weird' services running.
No virus or whatsoever, but perhaps some 'internet' issue that isn't working for you. You must be able to do updates soon or later.
Anyway, best option would be a bootable USB indeed with Windows 10 on it. I hope you can get this my man. 🤝

I managed to open IE through the program files. Ran iexplore.exe as administrator.
Downloaded chrome and it seems to be working. Gonna try and find a Windows 10 download for a clean install.
Do you recommend anywhere specifically? I remember always having popups to activate windows the last time I restored this way.

I recommend:
www.ninite.com
Select all the programs you want to download and install. It will give you an "installer" which will install every single program / app with the right system file (32x or 64x) and doesn't install any adware which is a big plus for mass download.
I recommend an antivirus, winrar, home-button, java and some other smaller programs.
