Only like 20 states have private sale background check laws any other state you could buy one in a private sale still. I guess, based off the grammar I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that in depth and per state laws. Either way, a little google research will find you your answer. Little google search could find you most answers should no one ever ask questions on forums then? There are things that are seeking opinions and facts, general discussion forums should rarely be used for the latter imo. There is so much information at your fingertips that I personally only use sub-forums such as lounge for opinionated responses that relate to a demographic I most relate to. I only use forums to seek something like the OP if I cannot find it after searching. To each their own and it is not against the rules, and I guess, nonetheless it did start a conversation.
I just answered this for you in that other thread.
Quote:Possession of a firearm by the mentally ill is regulated by both state and federal laws. https://www.ncsl.org/research/civil-and-...y-ill.aspx Quote:Under federal law, a person can be tallied in a database and barred from purchasing or possessing a firearm due to a mental illness under two conditions: if he is involuntarily committed to a mental hospital, or if a court or government body declares him mentally incompetent.

(Jan 30, 2020 02:20 PM)cryp Wrote: Well federal law says marijuana is illegal but its still legal in some states. So is it legal or illegal? And federal law also says age of concsnet is 12 years old. Yet most know it as 16 years old per state laws. So its a bit confusing to me about guns. (Jan 30, 2020 02:21 PM)Vibe Wrote: Doesn’t give you a full answer don’t knock him for making this thread.
