Sega Channel

Who here is old enough to remember SEGA CHANNEL?

Wikipedia had this to say about Sega Channel:
"Sega Channel was provided to the public by TCI and Time Warner Cable through cable television services by way of coaxial cable. It was a pay to play service, through which customers could access Genesis games online, play game demos, and get cheat codes. Lasting until July 31, 1998,"

I was 10 years old when this came out and one of the first people I know who had it locally.

If you are not familiar with it, basically it was the first in home live streaming gaming hub available, and you could plug it into your sega and then connect it to your cable and get a collection of games broadcasted to the unit itself that was easily navigated from a on tv screen UI.

I can't remember if it was every week, or every month, but basically the games you had available to you would rotate, as well as "tester" games you could play that were demos of games coming available on the next rotation, or that sega wanted you to try and buy.

This provided endless after school entertainment for me and my friends, and you could play all the violent games you wanted without parental interference.

Did anyone else rock this as a kid? anyone old enough to have had this awesome early world game streaming platform in their homes?
I've heard about it but unfortunately never had the opportunity to try it. Though I'm 25 and as a kid I mainly played paper mario on N64.

When I was a kid you could could go rent games from blockbuster and bring them home and play them for x amount of days, and sega channel cut into that market for 4 years, gave people the chance to stream games instead of buying or renting them.

It was badass to have a dozen or more games to play without taking game cartridges in and out every time.
It literally would just plug into your cable and then into the back of what looked like a giant sega game.
