I was researching around the internet and found something interesting. Growing up in "the hood" can cause PTSD according to growing up constantly hearing gunshots and police sirens.
I wanna hear what HF has to say about this and how can it affect you growing up in this environment?
That's actually really interesting. I can see how that can be severely traumatizing for your mental health. It's like the sense of insecurity about death or something.

It really is interesting bro. They did a research and compared someone living in a nice neighborhood compared to someone living in a dangerous area and the "flight or fight" area in the brain is always on for people growing up in the bad areas. Also they see kids who grow up in the areas mature a lot faster than someone growing up in suburban areas.

That would be hilarious, but I'm hoping for users to be serious on this topic.

It's a serious topic most can't give a testimonial about. Some may grew up in rural areas, but not harsh or wild environment.

That's true. How do you think it affects a person who grew up with constant hearing of gunshots and police sirens going off?
Would love to get some more opinions on this.

Honest the truth. I have grown up in this lifestyle on a few on here know of it. It may look like sunshine and rainbows, but’s it’s not.
Some things haunt you, some things mold you, some things break or lock away things. Some have paranoia or anxiety all the time.

LoL.
Everything you experience in your childhood will affect you in the long term. Imagine living in Venezuela and not being able to take your phone out of home because you could get robbed/rapped/killed just because of it.
I used to sell nice stuff on HF.
These days all I can offer you are my services as a software engineer and as a Spanish teacher. The later is a hobby I still enjoy.
Pm if interested.

Something I’ve never thought about before but also some very good points. I’ve never lived in the “hood” but I’m still gonna gap it if I hear shots popping off
