you should just make your own botnet as this will help u to avoid detection and also fulfill ur requirements. you can use open source projects as references Or hire an experienced developer to make you one if u dont have time but alot of money

CrazyRDP is good, they allow everything expect the really bad shit but they allow botnets, is 10 bucks a month for VPS hosting

I would go with darknet I dont know if the latest version is on github but you can ask around and I am sure people will give you it.

Pretty much this. The most open-source bots are outdated, not working properly anymore and can't keep up with modern security measures.

yes. it is a crime. you just said you wanted to infect 500 machines. call me crazy but I don't believe you legally have access to 500 machines.

Also dont think that cheap hosting would even be able to hold 500 connections.
