Fugging hell. I have been using Reddit a bit more lately. Can't talk about Covid there without getting banned.

I logged in today and saw this in my messages...

And here is original comment got me banned from /r/Worldnews.

It is so frustrating that people can talk crap about the unvaccinated and when you try to put out your view you're shut down and banned.

This isn't the first channel I been banned from on Reddit either over a comment. Not always about Covid either. Basically if you hurt someones feelings you get banned apparently.

Do you think this is normal Reddit behavior?
Don’t think this is normal for most topics on Reddit but covid for sure or anything political pretty much. I don’t even post opinions there anymore just use it for tutorials or other things.
I just got temp banned on a subreddit for my favourite hockey team after I talked about how the NHL pushes diversity and gives us shitty analysts just because they are women or people of colour. They are really bad at their jobs but keep them because they push the diversity narrative of the NHL.

Fuck Reddit, I'm not even a right winger and I hate how you can't have your own opinion on there.

On HF, I find myself severely disagreeing with a lot of people but at least you are able to speak your mind here, whether that is far right or far left. You won't be censored for it. I don't think I've ever seen someone censored here for their political opinions.

Also I've been banned from r/worldnews before too. Read this shit, for real. https://www.inputmag.com/culture/is-ghis...f-all-time

One of their moderators on r/worldnews is 100% Ghislaine Maxwell.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but I'm very convinced that the CIA runs Reddit.

Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
It's Reddit. Most moderators are power tripping there, especially subreddits with lots of followers. Basically, Reddit is the opposite of Facebook (at least, in my perspective).
That's just BS...
What happened to free speech...

It happens. But it's mainly people who are saying shit over and over in nearly every thread. Example is Cuthbert I think eventually I'm gonna close his account because he pops into every thread and releases a religious diatribe. And then there are people who are clearly racist, just don't need that BS here either. If you're gonna make arguments, you just need to have something more than your racism or bias when you make it. Add some source material at least.

I think maybe less than 10 people I have closed from SRPP in the past 10 years. So it's not like everyday.

Hehe, wouldn't that just be funny.

You have no clue how happy it makes me to read this.
Exactly what I'm thinking. You can't even express your opinion on r/coronavirus without getting banned even if its slightly 'anti-vax'. So much censoring it's frustrating.
Unfortunately the Reddit userbase overall, and the corporation behind it is left leaning to say the least. It's not as bad as a platform such as Twitter, but it's definitely bad.

Honestly I don't mind the subreddits that are clearly biased in the content that they present to moderate their subreddit in a biased manner (example: /r/femaledatingstrategy), but to get banned for a comment like yours on /r/worldnews (which honestly should be unbiased) is just ridiculous.

I think the problem is that it's user created and moderated content. They want their own little bubble where everyone agrees with them and they don't hear alternative opinions. That's fine with me, but what bothers me most is that when right-leaning sub reddits are then created as a response, in order to give those alternative opinions a place to go, they get quarantined or outright banned.

On top of that, there's several subreddits that monitor right-leaning subreddits. If a user posts there, they automatically get banned from several other subreddits. That's how far we've fallen as a society.

Things like this is why I actually agree with this comment you made in another thread:

The only problem is at the end of the day, 99% of the content we consume is still on the websites of these few powerful companies. There are alternatives, but an alternative offering the same services and only as an extra "freedom of expression" isn't going to make the average user (or content creator!) make the switch.

The only thing that could make people switch is something new that gets popular, but seeing as the new thing (TikTok) is one of the new breeding grounds for leftists I don't have high hopes.

I guess my response turned out to be a bit of a rant, not even specifically about reddit, but I figured it was important to be said. I'll end it with this quote:

This is one of the main reasons I never bothered with Reddit. Don't like the political drama (political meaning Reddit politics). Always felt like Reddit was a waste of time to actually spend a real amount of time on.
Definitely normal Reddit behavior, unfortunately. I've found that Reddit is one of those places on the internet where people go beyond just having an opinion; they go FULL BLAST with what they think, and those who think otherwise are the enemy. I think that can happen when there's so many different subreddits for specific topics. They fall in line with the thoughts and opinions of everyone who posts in them. You can't simply go to a subreddit and post anything that resembles a denial/counter argument to the topic without getting insulted and downvoted, and in this case, banned. Although, I'm surprised it took so little to get banned from subreddit that's not even about JUST Covid. Fuckin nuts.

Only friendly places on Reddit that I've seen are the ones where you couldn't possibly show it in a bad light without looking like an idiot or an asshole. There's a subreddit about drinking water, for example. What are you gonna say, water is shit? I used to post in another one where people who just picked up skateboarding could talk about learning stuff, and post videos of their progress. FULL of positivity. In contrast, in the regular skateboarding subreddit, you'd come across dudes that think "Nah, that was shit." "You'll never be as good as [name]." "You use what parts on your board? Trash." Shit of that nature.
Changed my username 7/6/18.
Sounds like Reddit to me, ever since this covid thing has came about, people on there really show what side they're rooting for, bunch of libtards and LGBTQ supporting democrats.

If you piss off a mod of a subreddit then prepare to deal with their panzie simps

I disagree anything that goes against the normal agenda will get you in a sticky situation on reddit.
I think this is just a very touchy subject for certain people. I don't use Reddit much but I would hope that people aren't being banned left and right over sharing their personal opinions. That is pure stupidity imo.

Bro If I had a dollar for how many times reddit has banned me. They are honestly the most petty people.
