BTC vs ETH PoW vs ETH PoS

I am gone for a few days and a single bad actor is able to trick the entirety of Hackforums. Not a single user fact-checked its claims that's kind of sad NGL.

1. Bitcoin miner Marathon Digital Holdings being the first to mine OFAC Complaint blocks
SEC Link: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/...ex99-1.htm

The issue is not Ethereum but rather PoW, so far all censorships have occurred on PoW. You can see in later research that PoS increases the complexities of censorship attempts, making it actually ineffective.

2. You can see the distribution of BTC/ETH PoW vs ETH PoS

In the image below you can see BTC only comprises of only a few pools. Over 90% of the Bitcoin network is pools that can and will be OFAC compliant, it is inevitable. Whereas ETH PoS is quite a bit more distributed than both.

3. BitMEX - OFAC Sanctions & Ethereum PoS – Some Technical Nuances

I'll save you some reading here but you can read the full article on your own time here

4. Decentralized Pool for Ethereum

Unlike PoW which has no decentralized pool options, send your hashrate to the few centralized pools or get nothing. Do not forget about point #2 you remember how the majority of the BTC network is comprised of a few pools.

Ethereum PoS has alternatives, decentralized pools. I'm not going to get into the nitty-gritty. You can do your own research.

I'd rather do anything else than engage with a maxi with blinders on.

Engaging will do nothing but create a larger cesspool environment around them.

These are not maxi's, these are centralized actors. They want everyone to consolidate around Bitcoin a censorable network, it will be easier to control the masses.
Where do you host ethereum PoS nodes? Decentralization is in danger.
BTC is thee beassssst bro
i dont know much about eth but i found btc is beast

Right on my desk.

PoLoW all these years I've seen you talk about mining on HF, have you ever even mined without a centralized pool? It's a tough pill to swallow, but the fact is you wouldn't have earned a dime worth of ETH if you did not send your hashrate over to a centralized entity.

I can solo mine if i want to but since my rig is tiny it's not worth it and pool mining is much better imo, besides i don't recall a pool did the %51 attack if i am not mistaken.
that's cool you hosted that node at your own pc but i bet that %70 node owners will use a hosting servers which leads to my previous post.

Yeah but your mining pool is able to censor tx. Is that not the point of the whole issue? Censorship?

PoW Mining pools currently is censoring tx, yet you are still lending them hashrate. You can solo mine and never get anything. Its not that you wont solo mine, you know you cant.

I can solo stake and I can also stake with a decentralized pool(no need for me). For PoW You cant solo mine and you have no decentralized pools.

ASRock A300 case, pretty solid imo

I live in their heads rent-free that's why.
I love making passive income by staking

Quote:they are going to censor, or if they aren't going to censor and have their 32 ETH deleted by the censors instead.

First, I solo stake at home unlike Bitcoin miners, I am not with any centralized pool OFAC compliant pools. There is nothing that could force me to censor. I don't have a large facility to raid, I don't have an enormous carbon footprint warehouse that cannot hide. So No there will be no censorship from my validators, they couldn't even get me if they tried.

Second, there is no actual effective censorship of any individual possible through proof-of-stake, unlike Proof-Of-Work which is censoring as we speak. Censorship is not even possible in any scenario.

I don't even need this third point as it's proven that censorship on Proof-Of-Stake is not possible, but I'll do it anyways.
Thirdly, there is no chance of anyone deleting my ETH. If that is the case delete it now, oh wait you can't.

Anyways I'll continue solo-staking keeping the network censorship-free. ✌

sidenote: I'll be launching another new node+validator, and will be building a more efficient machine (passively cooled case) soon at my new place not bad for a middle schooler. Will post about it soon.

If they can control my crypto and freeze them it's game over for Ethereum.

You are being intentionally mislead by a Bitcoin maxi, he's trying to confuse onlookers into thinking hypothetical scenarios that won't happen are what's on the horizon for Ethereum. They're not.

Unless you're acting maliciously as a validator, your Ethereum is safe. You are being led to believe that normal, benign behavior is going to be viewed as malicious, this will never be the case.
