My current one I did from the local shelter.
The other 4 were my mom's but and it was the same litter from 2 other cats on her family's side.

Oh I mistook your other post, the other 4 passed away from old age.. so I am left with one that I adopted now. They lived a long healthy life.

in my opinion there's no specific amount of cats that's considered "too many" get as many cats as will make you happy (as long as you can properly take care of them of course)

I dont have cats i have 2 dogs and they are part of the family, but i would agree 2 is an optimal number everything over that is too much.
