Comments Section on Contracts

So recently I came across a situation where the buyer was new on HF and had no way to contact me onsite besides posting on my thread.

So after he posted on thread, I again had to message him to add the txid/invoice id via convo

which he did afterwards but it took a lot of time for both of us. And all the time I was unsure if he is even reading my messages or not.

Now this got me thinking, if the contracts had a comments section at bottom where buyer/seller could communicate on public record. They can discuss/add comments till the contract is marked complete by both of them. This would result in overall betterment of transactions/contracts and all the deals can be made onsite directly without referring new users for offsite communication (Telegram/Discord etc.) I hate to refer to people to go offsite for any deals to be honest. Its very unreliable, unnecessary and risky.

As most sellers will want some kind of communication after sale such as invoice/tx details, email id, some specific details needed to complete deals etc. I know this all can be handled in PMs but the comments seem a better & transparent way and maybe the only way to communicate onsite for new users without giving them access to convo/PMs.

These comments can later be useful in case of any disputes/problems etc.

What do you think?

Always confirm you are talking with me on site using PM. Always use contract. I do not do currency exchange/gift cards/AGC.

That restriction is there to prevent scammers as many just register new accounts and start contacting victims through PMs/Convos.

And also it won't be that messy tbh as you don't have to interfere with the contract creation system at all. It will be a separate section at bottom available once contract is accepted by both sides. (Or by buyer side for Vendors)

And I am just not saying this for new users to be honest. It will bring more transparency to ALL deals & convenience to the after-deal communication. Rather than them communicating in PMs, They can communication on contract directly.

I quite like this idea, if we say that all deal-based discussion must be logged for public record within the contract system, it could help to reduce the dodgy deals that I imagine people could try to spring on new members. Perhaps not an "urgent" feature required; however, I think it could be a nice little addition in the future if Omni gets the time to add it.

Agreed.

And this is not to discuss about the product. This can strictly be added for communication regarding the transactional details or some specific details mandatory to complete the deal.

Like if one is selling a money making method, this should not be used for asking questions about the method. Rather this should be used to convey the details like invoice details, email id, any UID/account details specifically related to the product.

eg. If I need buyer's Instagram account link/id for a certain product, or if I need buyer's email id to send an upgrade invite etc.
In case of offsite communication, buyer might claim his email id was different than required etc.

In case of dispute, we can verify this information and see that it was completed properly on given account etc.

There has been many times where a comments section would have been really nice. Sometimes people need to edit the deal and still want an easy to follow paper trail

what other sections you think comments section is required?

& as far as I know, once we make contract, we can not edit it in any ways. That is why I think this would benefit especially the contracts to be transparent and also beneficial to avoid any disputes in future.

Great idea! All deal related conversation would be very useful to have inside the details of the contract.
Pretty useful idea actually. Can see it being beneficial for many reasons
this is a good idea, it would be easier for new members to communicate with doing a deal

This is why I use PM's if it's anything important or something I care about knowing whether or not they 100% received what I sent. PM Tracking is a very useful feature, would love to see a "Seen" or "Read" option added to Convo's in the future. ✅

In terms of adding a whole comments section to Contracts, I would instead suggest a comment option/feature. A feature that allows you to add a short note to a Contract that's already been made and accepted ~~ something like a TXID / crypto address / payment email / online shop URL / slight contract edit / etc etc..

The reason I would say a comment option/feature instead of a whole section is because if there's a whole section where you can chat in via Contracts, for one it sort of takes away the point of Convo for Marketplace purposes, and it also has the potential to create quite the headache in a deal dispute. Say there's Terms made initially, those terms change slightly due to x y and z, and that repeats itself once or twice, then add to that a list of edited terms in "Contract Comments" that the buyer/seller could utilize. I can see multiple edits as a cause for concern down the road should a situation like that arise. Members saying "oh well you said__ in this Comment, thereby making the original terms null and void" or something similar, just wouldn't want to see something like that happen. I can see newer members doing that as well, thinking that "Comments" are another official form of terms. I suppose in many cases it could be an updated terms Comment, going into it though these are all things I would keep in mind personally.

Overall though I really like the idea of integrating a comment/note feature to Contracts, would add that much more customization to them. Plus there's definitely multiple scenarios where having that feature could be incredibly useful. Such as including a TXID after you complete the Contract not realizing you didn't include it beforehand, a reminder of when to change or renew something, keep track of what number customer that member is in said Contract with a small comment/note, the satoshi value amount on that day to check back in the future, etc etc..

Also if this reads all over the place it's because I typed it up at around 7am with only a couple hours of sleep lol. I just tabbed back here now and noticed I never even posted it. This is why sleep is important kids 🙃

PMs are of course great and work well for time being. Unless buyer is new and has no access to PMs/Convos. I know its easy to get to 25 posts but still, for marketplace section there should be something to help in this case.

What I was referring to are transactional/contractual details. It has nothing to do with the actual product. I understand what you are referring to though. Comments section can go little out of hand in some cases.

Custom fields can help in this. Like User/Vendor can specify custom fields in the contract templates which buyer can fill up. eg. email id to use for upgrade, / Instagram Profile link for likes/views & so on.

But it might be little complicated to implement maybe rather than comment section. Also editing the contract terms is also not a good idea in my opinion. Everything on contracts should be non-editable once filled.

I still can't decide though. I still feel comments section might be more helpful in bigger picture. Maybe it can be a feature for Vendors. Vendor contracts would be enabled for comments.

&

Get some sleep 😆

This is true and I agree with it 100%. That is why I stated in OP, ability to add comments should be active only until both parties have marked the contract complete.
