A writing forum I'm a part of, pretty much the main place of discussion for the genre I write, does this. The community is small but it's very active, very tight-knit. You can register for free but you have no access to any of the forums or content until you upgrade. Not sure if that would work for HF but if any site could make it work, I'd imagine HF would.

Yeah, I've seen this on several other forums. And the $15 price tag for Leet in the minimum, isn't going to break the bank for anyone. So I would surely advocate for this to be considered.

I just don't understand how people fall for it.

I guess when people/members lack technical expertise, they are vulnerable to many aspects of the field, since they don't know much about the basic fundamentals of these kind of topics, ex: scams. We been on here for a while now so we at least know when something smells fishy.

But, I am excited when Omniscient stops it for good so we can build from this, move on and hit the next mission for the forums :)

agree with u ,and that will be more good

Why not just forego free registrations and make it a requirement to upgrade upon joining? Or make it so that you can't post until you are upgraded?

Well, that ended up partially happening. We'll see how it goes.

Back in the day you could successfully get a website hacked for $25 without getting scammed if you refused to go first and held out. Don't ask me how I know this.
