Contracts No Longer Required

(Nov 24, 2022 08:10 PM)Prince™ Wrote:  I'm so unsure about this imho. Contract system was one of the best changes you've bought in for HF, Omni esp when it was mandatory.

Exactly my thought. The contract system still protects you to a degree as it has binding proof of 2 parties in trade with details. but what I dislike is the ability to dispute it which in some cases can result in a bad view of your marketplace profile. just like me, who received 2 negative feedback from 2 low-life buyers 2 years ago who didn't read my TOS and opened a dispute with me even after marking the contract completed.

maybe, putting more safeguards in the contract system could help stop scams further. 😥

Well it seems like now that is not an issue as Omni handles all disputes himself. So if the dispute is invalid, it will be removed. Not sure if anything can be done about yours though.
I will NEVER DM you first on Telegram/Discord

Always confirm you are talking with me on site using PM. Always use contract. I do not do currency exchange/gift cards/AGC.

yeah. I just never felt they are important until recently when a few of my new buyers I showed my profile to, said I have 2 scam reports opened amounting to $30-$40 and I might be a scammer.

they are not interested in my profile being 12+ years old and close to 200 positive contracts completed.

and thank you for the info, but I was merely providing my own example and not really interested in bothering Omni about this small issue.

If you were a Vendor I would review those Disputes potentially marking them Invalid. So you have a path.

Honestly speaking. those 2 irrelevant feedbacks are the reason I never asked you if I'm eligible for the vendor. but I'll do that now. thanks
but still, since we're talking about the contracts, I think there should've been a "done deal" sort of mechanism in which the "buyer" can't change feedback once given. like, final feedback, and the deal is sealed.

Fair enough, thanks for the update on this. Will continue to use contracts though as I believe that's safest for everyone.

Cheers

Well what if buyer has any problems down the line ? I think this is fine as is.

what if the buyer has bad intentions? what if I said my TOS has no replacement and refund and still, he opens a dispute? it was one of the possibilities that resulted in my 2 negative feedback and once again, we're just discussing the features and safeguards here. I'm not vocal about the removal of my feedback.

hope you get my point.

I do and to be fair, if you have that in your TOS and on contract, the dispute will just be marked invalid by Omni since he started reviewing all disputes?

Contracts are for both. For sellers as well as buyers. Sure there will be few bad buyers who have wrong intentions but contracts are indeed there for both parties to be safe.

& considering Omni manually checking all disputes, these bad intention buyers feedbacks will be removed anyways. So maybe when Omni was not reviewing, that would have made more sense but not now really.

Totally. but then missing on TOS/TERMS in the contract can be a loophole. and scammers will always find some way around it. It all depends on the buyer's intention whether he's gonna scam you or not. and I'd say, the contract is still a very helpful feature here. for instance, I've had some buyers who labeled me a scammer when I asked them to use a contract. at least, they have something to fear like BAN, restrictions, or even closure of their accounts.

in short. keep using contract fellas. It's a unique HF-only feature.

I completely agree with you. Contracts was and is one of the best and notable features added to forum. And I for sure will always be using them for all deals.

Ok, ok, ok... I'll totally use a contract if i every try to sell a product or service here. I have to know, why isn't this entire site hidden as a .onion? I get uneasy when I see my log file since we can't access the site behind tor or even a vpn. The site has been around for an epic amount of time for this industry, and has earned respect and trust... Enough so that people talk pretty openly about extra-legal topics. This is my long winded way of wondering if our use of this site, our ip addresses would be provided to a court if a court order were issued. This isn't a dealbreaker, I just want to set my expectations and craft my strategy for using the site in tandem with mobile hidden services. Know what I mean? I'm new to all this (obvs), but I am also so old. I'm going to date myself here, you know, something to crack up the feds when they read this line if and when my time comes. Anyway, my first computer, the one I learned basic on, was a vic-20. There, I've shown you mine and you can guesstimate my generation from there.

Don't do illegal shit on HF. Fun fact, buying tools here, is not illegal. Selling tools here, is not illegal. Using tools against systems without permission, that's illegal. The member who have experienced legal trouble have indeed broken the law by using tools to penetrate systems they didn't have permission.

Please note too, that's America. In UK and other places the above is potentially not true. In some places just having a "hacker tool" on your computer is against the law.

Don't be a criminal hacker, be a pentester and bounty hunter. It's more fun that way anyways.

I believe this comes down to intent. In my case I was never accused of, or found to, have compromised systems, but I was selling a tool knowing that our customers intended to use it that way. My charges were all conspiracy charges.

Essentially, don't be an asshole dipshit. If your interests lie in breaking computers, do so in a productive and legal manner (pentesting).

True, there is a nuance there with Conspiracy. Basically if gov does want you, they get you. That's my personal opinion.
