I’ve actually had this on my mind for quite some time but other forums just don’t feel as.. smart. And I’ve genuinely wondered why that is, they also feel way way way more dead even though HF at times can feel slow, I’m talking like 2 weeks ago being the most recent post slow! Am I just out of the loop? I’m honestly curious

Most sites are generally copied from HF to begin with, and it’s mostly just people spamming LQP to unlock content.

It is much better over here.

I joined the forum not for the market but for learning, exchanging knowledge. Other forums lack high quality content, high quality members etc. HF is one of the oldest and best forum till date.

I 100% agree it’s just crazy man, outside of some exceptions there’s just no forum like HF, and I seriously just wonder why that is

I think with the rise of platforms (I don't think the word "application" is enough to describe them anymore) like Discord and Telegram.

People started to rely less on forums and communities, since everything can be moved on there.

Like, you can have a mini-forum + group chats + threads + streams in a single discord server.
Similar features on Telegram.


Like a decade ago, people used to create threads on forums then link their external contact for fastest response (since PMs weren't so popular and most sites had insane limits on PMs), mostly IM which was probably Skype as the most popular thing back then.
Like damn, I remember a community I was on used IRC lol.

then Skype started to fall and other options rise then die and repeat until we reached Discord/Telegram which are pretty much the most popular now imo.

I know some members here on HF that reply instantly on Telegram/Discord if they are online but they check their HF account like once every couple of weeks. (check some disputes lol)

Most english-speaking message boards are slow at the moment.
Many have gravitated toward telegram or Discord groups / chats. Or more multi-purpose boards such as reddit or dread.
I am not worried about activity.

I don’t completely disagree but I think it’s important to realize I think HF is perfectly active, and ig when it comes down to it yeah TG and ( somehow discord ) got more popular for this stuff, I just wonder how the tools market fairs with that information honestly

it's understandable that you're noticing differences in the quality and activity of various online forums. Different forums can indeed have unique atmospheres and levels of engagement.

in my point of view i think mostly there are no such active members like us. and also i must mention we have many members who have very well knowledge about the forum topics .

I think I completely agree, when I look over other similar forums it feels like the information well is a lot thinner and the rules aren’t as tight, so it’s kinda.. it feels like a well of bottomless nothing. Or a pale imitation at best
