I've been registered on GB since 2009 which was when I started playing Halo 3 in a more competitive nature. I went to a few local tournaments where I met some pro players. I remember one of them being StrongSide who was my favorite player to watch at the time. I have so many stories when it comes to H3, some are kind of unbelievable looking back on it. My brother and I came close to winning one local doubles tournament against GH057ayame and another player from his team who I cannot remember. It was the best of three, we won the first game and lost the next two. We added them to our friend's list but we were eventually removed probably a couple of months later.

Following GB during the year 2010, we were the top 2v2 team across the board winning two trophies that year. One was a 2v2 Dallas Style tourney. A quick little story behind this too... we had an established team with my brother and two others who were also brothers. We ended up splitting about a year later and shortly after we split, they entered this tournament and so did we. It came down to us playing them in the finals and we smoked them. Great times.

I remember seeing this the day it got announced. So many pros and people in the industry tweeting about it and saddened, understandably so. I played a fuck ton on there, achieved a good amount on there, and had some of my most fun times gaming from matches / tournaments on there. Sucks to see it officially going down, but I feel like anyone in the competitive space that used the platform knew it's been going down hill for a while and that this was likely to happen. Sucks to see it go, but I'm really glad and grateful that I was able to be a part of it's prime for as long as it lasted. Wont be surprised if we don't ever have something like it again or that is as mainstream as it was. Just different times nowadays.

I played so much gamebattles with my irl buddies in highschool. 2012-2014.

Mainly 2v2-4v4 matches in cod.

Even remember playing in some sticks and stones tourneys lmao ... Where a lot of luck was involved 😂 loved to gamble even back then. But yeah haven't touched gamebattles for 8+ years. Pretty sure my account had like $40 in it lol.

My friend was super active, had over 20k posts on the forums back in 2012... He was top 100 in cod for a while

I feel like most of us went through that phase initially or unless we were already playing competitive ruleset stuff elsewhere. Before I messed with GBs I just did pubs which of course has everything in any game and I thought I was hot shit. Sure, some of that skill carried over even to a competitive ruleset, but it's a whole different ball game for the most part and with that came a wake up call of ok, maybe I'm not THAT good yet haha. Make no mistake though, I was running over kids on there all in due time as well 😎
